More: Week Two Recap | Week Two Scores | Prep Football Ranking Index

Already week three is here and to be honest this week has been on my mind since this summer. With some more than marquee games on the slate we're about to find out which teams can rise to the occasion.

The NMPreps.com Game of the Week is no doubt #3 Goddard 1-0 visiting #2 Rio Rancho 2-0. The Rams are 0-12 all-time against teams from District 4-4A and have lost to Goddard every year since they started playing in 2008.

The Rams come into this match up outscoring the competition in two games 54-1, ironically the only team in New Mexico who has better numbers is Goddard who comes into this match up scoring an average of 63.0 points per game and allowing zero.

Rio Rancho is ranked #2 and Goddard is ranked #3 in the latest NMPreps.com Top 25 Rankings. Be at this game if you're in the Metro Area come Friday Night.

Another Game of the Week awaits on Saturday at 1:00PM at Brother Abdon Field in Santa Fe New Mexico as the St. Michael's Horsemen ranked #1 in Class 3A take on the #2 ranked Lovington Wildcats.

It's a rematch of the 2011 3A State Title Game in which the Lovington Wildcats came from behind in the fourth quarter to win 14-10. The Horsemen are 2-0 following a 28-12 statement win over Class 4A St. Pius X while Lovington is 1-1 beating Robertson 48-0 in week two.

Carlsbad heads to Mayfield this weekend in a monster 5A match up. Last year Mayfield Quarterback Axten Franzoy missed most of this game with an ankle injury, in 2012 it looks like Carlsbad Quarterback Rodney Holcomb is questionable for this weekend following a high ankle sprain he suffered in week two against Del Rio, Texas.

Sophomore Kaleb Stevens played big when his number was called last week. As for the Trojans they are 0-2 for the first time in years following a 38-9 loss to EP Franklin, a team Head Coach Michael Bradley said is the best team he's seen in the last 16-years.

Manzano will host Clovis this weekend for a game that Clovis has had on their mind since the 2011 season when Manzano beat the Wildcat's not once but twice. Clovis scored a school record 67 points last weekend against Highland. As for the Manzano Monarchs who are 2-0 on the year after a 42-7 win against West Mesa, they've been led by Junior Duo in Quarterback Angel Gonzales and Running Back Cory Morrow.
