Each week NMPreps.com will select Players of the Week and publish the award winners each Monday. Coaches and fans are urged to send in weekly top performers after Friday night's game to nmpreps@yahoo.com. This will greatly insure that we select the correct player for each award.

WEEK FOUR: TEAM OF THE WEEK OVERALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Team: Rio Rancho Rams The Rio Rancho Rams ranked number one overall in the NMPreps.com Class 5A Football Rankings for the first time in school history jumped to the top spot after defeating previously No. 1 ranked Las Cruces 42-21 last Friday Night. The Rams were stellar on Homecoming night thanks to a huge defensive effort from Austin Patterson in the secondary and 230-yards of rushing from Ullises Astorga. The Ramsn now 3-1 play Clovis in week five. Overall: Ulises Astorga - Rio Rancho One of the most underrated running backs in the State of New Mexico is without a doubt Astorga who has ran for over 500-yards in just four weeks on play on the season. Against Las Cruces High School last week Astorga ripped off runs of more than 80 and 90-yards in a 230-yard performance helping the Rams shock visiting Las Cruces. Astorga at 5-foto-10 and 170 pounds posted the highest overall RB marks at the 2012 NMPreps Elite Combine.
SMALL SCHOOL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NORTHERN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Small School: Timmy Pearce - Tatum Senior Running back Timmy Pearce out of Tatum, New Mexico is having a huge 2012 campaign helping the Tatum Coyotes get to 4-0 this year after last weekend's 40-28 win over Menual. Pearce ran for 253-yards and scored five touchdowns on the night. Pearce had great numbers at the NMPreps Elite Combine and is the top 8-Man player in the State of New Mexico. Beau Clafton - Piedra Vista One of the surprise teams of the 2012 season has to be the Piedra Vista Panthers now at 4-0 on the season. Last weekend against Santa Fe, the Panthers rolled to a 48-20 victory. Their offense has been putting up a ton of points and this week the offense was led by Beau Clafton who ran for 122-yards, caught for 116-yards, and scored four touchdowns. Clafton another NMPreps Elite Combine Attendee ran a 4.4 40-time at this summer's premier event.
METRO AREA PLAYER OF THE WEEK SOUTHWEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Romell Jordan - Cleveland
University of New Mexico Lobo Commit Romell Jordan out of the Class of 2013 tore it up Friday Night against Clovis in a 27-14 victory over the Wildcats. Jordan ran for 181-yards, caught for 131-yards, and scored three touchdowns making another clear statement that he is one of the top high school football players in the State of New Mexico. The Storm started out 0-2, but has since won two in a row.
Isaiah Fielder - Onate Isaiah Fielder a 185 pound senior running back out of Onate had a game busting week against the Hobbs Eagles in week four. Fielder ran for 134-yards and scored five touchdowns. Fielder has ran for over 400-yards in four games this year for the Knights. Onate is now 2-2 on the year and will take on Volcano Vista this weekend.
SOUTHEAST PLAYER OF THE WEEK Video of the Week: Santa Rosa over Hope 40-0
Rodney Holcomb - Carlsbad The Carlsbad Class of 2014 Prospect had his coming out performance of the 2012 season after throwing for 298-yards and two touchdowns against the Alamogordo Tigers in a 38-13 victory. The Cavemen now 3-1 on the season take on the Artesia Bulldogs this weekend in the annual Eddy County War Rivalry Game. Last year the Cavemen edged out the Artesia Bulldogs thanks to a 150-yard rushing performance by Holcomb who was a Sophomore last year. It's been many, many years since Carlsbad has beat Artesia in the Bulldog Bowl, most are expecting Artesia to repay the favor this Friday Night. ?
