Week 7 Recap
Valley 31, Atrisco Heritage 28
The Valley Vikings and the Atrisco Heritage Jaguars faced off on Friday night as the hosting Valley Viking come away with a crucial district win over a tough district opponent. Atrisco drops their second straight matchup following the 31-28 loss and are now 4-2 on the season and 1-2 in 5A play. Valley notches a key win and one that will speak for them down the road come seeding and selection time, The Vikings were lead offensively by Bo Coleman and Esteban Loera. For now thought the Viking are 3-3 and looking like the team to beat in district 5-5A. Atrsico will face off against Rio Grande in week 8 and Valley will play Albuquerque High in week 8.
Goddard 20, Carlsbad 17
The Carlsbad Cavemen now 4-3 on the season led the Goddard Rockets 17-0 for the majority of the football game, until Goddard scored 20 unanswered to stay perfect on the season at 6-0. The Cavemen hit a field goal early in the first quarter, then Quarterback Rodney Holcomb hit Josh Miller for a touchdown pass and catch to make it 10-0. Carlsbad would go up 17-0 when Dillon Caddell scored from a few yards out. Josh Quiroz scored a touchdown run, then the Rockets got on the board again after Anthony Ornelas hit Dean McDaniel for the score. The Rockets would score again in the final minutes when Ornelas would find McDaniel for another score. Goddard moves to 6-0 this year and will take on Lovington next week. Carlsbad drops to 4-3 and will head to Albuquerque next weekend to take on La Cueva.
Artesia 55, Clovis 48
In a shootout for the ages the Artesia Bulldogs and the Clovis Wildcats racked up a combined 103 points Friday Night in a game that seemed to feature little defense. The Artesia Bulldogs now 6-1 this season were led by an outstanding performance at quarterback by Trevor Eulenbach who threw for 410-yards, four touchdowns, and just one interception. The Bulldgos also got 178-yards rushing from Junior Gavin Saiz as the Bulldogs totaled 595-yards of total offense. The Clovis Wildcats who have lost five in a row were led by Running Back Kamal Cass who set a Clovis School Rushing Record running for 388-yards and four touchdowns.
Las Cruces 52, Onate 20
The Las Cruces Bulldawgs moved to 5-1 on the season thanks to 338-yards passing from Quarterback Jonathan Joy as the Dawgs continued their hit streak. Joy would thrown touchdowns for 77, 54, and 41 yards on the night as Las Cruces racked up close to 400-yards of total offense. The Dawgs also has big contributions from Kamryn Dixon who caught for over 100-yards, Michael Calzada who caught for 150-yards, and Running Back JJ Grandados who ran for over 100-yards and two touchdowns. Las Cruces will take on Alamogordo in week eight while Onate moves to 3-4 and will take on Gadsden.
Aztec 46, St. Pius X 27
The Aztec Tigers look to be the Aztec Tigers again awakening from their early season slumber to defeat the St. Pius X Sartans in a key inner classification match up. On the night the Tigers now 3-3 on the season racked up big yards from Adam Lucero who threw for 275-yards and four touchdowns. Brad Hardin, Aztec's staple receiver would haul in over 100-yards agin and for the second straight week the Tigers had big rushing efforts from Ryneal Lewis-Adams. The Tigers will open district 1-4A play in two weeks against Farmington. St. Pius X has lost three in a row and will take on undefeated Piedra Vista next weekend.

Rio Rancho 39, Eldorado 38 | Highlights Here
The Marquee Class 5A Game of the Week had a play-off feel to it through four quarters Friday Night in Rio Rancho. The Rams and Eagles trades touchdowns most of the night until the Eagles pulled away late in the game leading 38-31. Sophomore Quarterback Easton Bruere led a 4th quarter charge late in the game and connected with Tristen Foley for what looked to be the game tying touchdown at 38-38. Ram's Head Coach David Howes however called a time out as the Rams decided to go for two with just 9.9 seconds left in the game. The Rams came out in a pistol set with three running backs, Bruere faked a hand off and ran a bootleg to the left side of the field for a dramatic successful two-point conversion. Bruere would throw for over 200-yards on the night, Austin Patterson had a big night catching the football as did Junior Receiver Tristen Foley hauling in over 150-yards and two very important touchdown receptions. The Rams are open next week before taking on Volcano Vista in week nine. Eldorado drops to 3-2 and will take on Volcano Vista in week eight.

Los Lunas 40, Belen 0? | Highlights Here
On Friday night the battle for Valencia county was set, as the Los Lunas Tigers faced off against cross-county foe's the Belen Eagles. The Belen Eagles fall to 4-2 on the season and faced adversity offensively all night long thanks to a stagnate offense and a tough Los Lunas defensive unit. The Eagles? will host Gallup in Week 8 and they look to get back on the winning track and secure a spot in the play-offs with some more district victories. Los Lunas improves to 6-0 on the season following Friday's victory and although they have won the Battle for Valencia County there is still a lot of football to play and goals to accomplish for the surging Tigers, Los Lunas was lead offensively by Jalen Chavez and Chris Wisneski.? Los Lunas will host Grants? in week 8 and will look to remain undefeated on the season, district play and hopefully attain a first round bye in the 2012 prep football play-offs.

Mayfield 51, Gadsden 21
This game was 21-21 at the half. Yes, the much improved Gadsden Panthers were playing toe to toe with the Trojans Friday night until the Green Machine got going after halftime. On the night, the Trojans racked up more than 400-yards of offense as Macrus Inglemon ran for 122-yards, Kavika Johnson ran for 92-yards, and David Stooke ran for 94-yards in their best efforts at a three back attack. The Trojans are now 4-3 on the season and are open next week before taking on Onate in week nine. The Gadsden Panthers now 3-4 this year will continue district play in week eight against against Onate is a very key district match up.

Volcano Vista 47, Del Norte 6
The Volcano Vista Hawks and the Del Norte Knights did battle on Friday night and the Hawks came away victorious. The Knights fall to 2-5 on the season and will be idle in week 8. Volcano Vista improves to 3-3 on the year and will play the roll of visitor in week 8 as they are get set to play Eldorado. Volcano Vista is not out of the playoff picture just yet but they need to win out in order to be in title contention.

Deming 29, Alamogordo 28
The Deming Wildcats won their second thrilling game in two weeks with a 29-28 victory over the Alamogordo Tigers Friday night to move to 4-2 on the season. On the night the Wildcats were led by Ismail Garrett who ran for 126-yards and two touchdowns. David Padron, Deming's Sophomore Quarterback threw for 100-yards and ran for 42-yards along with two touchdowns. Deming is now 4-2 this year and will take on El Paso Cathedral in week eight. The Tigers are now 2-4 and will take on Las Cruces in their District 3-5A opener.

Valencia 30, Gallup 15
Valencia and Gallup battled it out on Friday Night as they Valencia Jaguars were able to come away with a district victory. Valencia picks up their first win of the season and improve to 1-5 on the year. Gallup is now 2-4 on the season and will face off against the Belen Eagles in week 8. Valencia will prepare to gave off against Miyamura in week 8.?

Portales 19, Hope Christian 14
The Portales Rams and the Hope Christian Huskies faced off on Friday night as the two 3A teams are still battling for pride despite being out of the play-off picture. Portales is now 2-4 on the season and will face off against Roswell in week 8 at the Wool Bowl. Hope Christian will face off against Albuquerque Academy in week 8.?

Santa Fe 65, Espanola Valley 22
The Santa Fe Demons rolled to 1-0 in district play with a monster win against Espanola Valley. The Demons were led by Anthony Abeyta who ran for over 100-yards and two scores on the night. The Demons now 2-4 this year need to win out if they want to make a run at the play-offs. Next weekend Santa Fe will take on Los Alamos in what is likely the district title game.

Escalante 35, Ft. Sumner 20
The Escalante Lobos have clearly arrived and with a 15 point win over the Ft. Sumner Foxes Friday Night, the Lobos are likely the clear No. 1 team in New Mexico in 1A after all the weekend action dust settles. The Lobos now 7-0 this year were led by Reynaldo Atencio who scored three touchdowns and Cody Casados who ran for over 100-yards on the night.

Farmington 35, Bloomfield 12
The Farmington Scorpions keep winning and have moved to 5-2 on the season setting up a great match up in two weeks with Aztec in the first game of District 1-4A. The Farmington Scorpions were led by strong play at quarterback from Jacob Lucas and all around play from Kyle Reynolds who looks to have emerged as one of the top overall players in the district. The Scorpions were also led at running back Essiel Carrasco who ran for just shy of 100-yards on the night.

Tularosa 34, Hatch 28
The Tularosa Wildcats moved to 5-2 on the season thanks to a huge night from Jim Colemand, Tularosa's do it all athlete who had three touchdown catches on the night. Tularosa also improves to 1-0 in district play. The Hatch Valley Bears have lost three in a row and are now 3-3 on the season.
