This past weekend in 6-Man New Mexico High School Football, New Mexico School for the Deaf beat San Jon 103-97. While the game score is hard to believe the individual performances by Immanuel Neubauer of NMSD and Jacob Benally of San Jon are ever more perplexing.

Neubauer, ran for 531-yards and nine touchdowns. He also recorded 14 total tackles on defense. Benally a senior at San Jon ran for a mind blowing 587-yards and 12 touchdowns. We caught up with NMSD Head Coach Robert Huizar to find out even more on this weekend's most baffling contest.

NMPreps.com: Why so many yards and touchdowns
Huizar: It was a 6-man game haha.? San Jon lives by the spread and we had one of our better players out with a sports hernia so we had to put in Ever Mendoza on the spread.? Ever is a 270 lb guy who can run pretty fast but if you put him on the LB-CB position on the spread he will be beaten by a faster guy (Benally).? Benally is an exceptional player is I think 6'2 180-190 pound athlete. He is hard to tackle and is smart as they come. They were pretty big so we had to revert to the spread as well and Immanuel had a great game reading the blocks and heading to the gaps.?Anyone who saw the game would have loved it and would have said it was a defensive game as well. It was back and forth both ways the whole game with either one of us getting maybe a two TD lead which we both wanted so we can stay one ahead of each other.? We actually could have finished the game but an injury on San Jon's end delayed the game for 30 min as he was carted off by ambulance.?

NMPreps.com: You've been coaching at the 6-Man level for quite some time, greatest performance you've ever seen?
Huizar: Yeah I been around a while.? I remember back somewhere in 200-2004 there was a really good Clovis Christian team that I thought was fantastic.? They had it all and I mean every position was filled perfectly.? That was probably the best team I ever coached against.? Dustin Moulder, he was an exceptional athlete, and if you ask me Benally is a bigger version of him.? He is carrying the team pretty much by himself.? No disrespect to the team but they did try and go another route and when it didn't work they would hand off to Benally and he would take care of business. By far this was one of if not the craziest regular season games I have ever seen and coached and like you said I have been around a while, 18 years to be exact as a coach and five years as a player.? I mean I did a few calculations and if we played out the remaining 3 min that would be another 3 scores each. That's 127 to 121 ha. So yeah Benally's 12 TD's was the greatest performance I have seen.? Immanuel's is right behind him.? ?

NMPreps.com: Tell us a little more about Immanuel
Huizar: Immanuel is actually from Africa, he was adopted when he was in middle school and brought here with very little or no language and no idea what football was.? He is 5-foot-10 and weighs 130-pounds.? He is very fast and is picking up the game pretty good this year on both sides of the field.? This was probably the first time I really used him on the spread a whole game this year.? We switch up our offense formations a lot to confuse the other teams but playing the spread a full game has its perks for speedy players. ??
