St. Michael's 28, Silver 21
The top two teams in 3A faced off in our NMPreps.com's game of the Week down in the lovely town of Silver City on a bone chilling Friday night. The top ranked Horsemen were able to overcome a 14-0 deficit in the first quarter and showed the resolve that many people believed they did not have coming into the matchup as they remain undefeated and are now 8-0 and one of New Mexico's few remaining undefeated teams in the Land of Enchantment. For the Silver Fighitng Colts the loss is a heartbreaker and one that they will not soon forget as it came on their Home Coming week. The Horsemen were lead on the night By Salomon Martinez and Cory Serna who had big games at their respective positions. The Colts were lead by Nevada and Dakota Bencomo as well as Derek Salas. The Horsemen begin district play in week 10 against Albuquerque Academy in week 10. The Colts will have Socorro as their next opponent.

Sandia 34, Manzano 14
The Sandia Matadors (6-2, 1-0) played host to the visiting Manzano Monarchs (6-2, 0-1) to begin district 2-5A play on a cold night in Albuquerque on Friday. The Game was controlled by the Matadors in a fashion that not many people saw coming. The Matadors jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and would not look back as they lead 27-0 at the midway point. Sandia was lead offensively on the night by Craig Coffman and defensively by Tyler Ireland and his bunch of hard nosed defensive lineman who at times can play like one of the top defensive lines in the state. For Coach Barker and his Matadors this a victory that will be savored, but only briefly as they begin to go to work and prepare for a tough Eldorado team in week 10. The Monarchs will have to forget about this one in a hurry and focus on their next opponent in the La Cueva Bears as District 2-5A play continues in week 10 for both the Matadors and the Monarchs. Cleveland 54, Cibola 16
The visiting Cibola Gougars (1-7, 0-1) and the hosting Cleveland Storm (5-3, 1-0) faced off in a district 1-5A matchup on Friday Night. The Cougars drop to 0-1 in district play and will face off against the top Ranked Rio Rancho Rams in week 10. For Cleveland the road gets tougher as well as they will battle Volcano Vista in week 10. Moriarty 62, Santa Fe 8
The Morarity Pintos (5-3) and the Santa Fe High Demons (3-5) faced off on Friday night in Morarity as the Pintos would end up running away with this one when it was all said and done. David Stager lead the Pinto charge on the night in a game that would eventually be called because of the 50 point mercy rule. The Morarity Pintos have been known to have one of the toughest defenses in the State in 4A and it showed just how tough they can be again last night accumulating 4 defensive turnovers. The Demons following last weeks routing of Los Alamos need to go back to the drawing board in hopes to get back on track between in week 10 against District foe Bernalillo.
