DISTRICT 1-4A- The "Northwest District" has been making huge strides each season to silence the critics of being a weak district. The district sent another team to the Final Four in 2012 with the Kirtland Central Broncos. The Broncos shocked the state upsetting the #1 Goddard Rockets in the Elite Eight to move onto the Final Four.
Well there is no other place to start than with the favorite once again coming into this season, Kirtland Central. The Broncos have a new logo for 2012-2013 and are looking to build off the 2012 Final Four. Coming back is NMPreps.com Top 100 Player, Christian Mackey (2014) who had one of the best post seasons. Mackey was a double-double machine during the Broncos run and will look to only build off those performances.
Sitting right behind the Broncos is the Piedra Vista Panthers who are in a huge transition losing one of the states top coaches in Brian Shock who resigned to take a position on his fathers staff at Cliff High School. The Panthers welcome in one of New Mexico's top assistants in Adam Huff who served on the staff of the 2012 5A State Champion Eldorado Eagles last season. Look for the Panthers to return to the PIT with Top 50 Player, Jacob Armijo (2013) returning for his senior season.
The third team looking to make strides this season will be the Aztec Tigers and a very experienced team from last season. The Tigers could be one of the most underrated teams the post season and could climb the polls very quick in 4A...
