No. 2 Clovis wins a close one
Week Three is finally here and the real season gets going with several marquee games throughout the state. Plenty of Top-25 action taking place.
No. 2 Clovis 70, No. 12 Rio Rancho 68
Rio Rancho, NM- On Saturday evening the No. 2 Clovis Wildcats (1-0) traveled up North to take on the No. 12 Rio Rancho Rams (0-2). The Wildcats, though closer than expected, pulled out the win, 70-68.
John Dawson (No. 3 NMPreps.com Top 100 Player Rankings: Summer Edition) led the Wildcats with 28 points on the night. Dawson displayed his excellent dribbling skills, and shooting ability against the Rams.
The score traded hands throughout the first half of the game as the Rio Rancho Rams kept it close all night with their three point shooting. The Wildcats, however, used their defensive pressure to force Ram turnovers throughout the second half.
The Rams were led by shooting guard Jeremy Swafford who finished the day with 20 points (4-3PT's) and point guard Brady Patterson who had 14 points. . DJ Blackmon chipped in 14 points for the Wildcats.

No. 3 Hobbs Eagles (4-0) 106, Yselta (TX) 71: The Eagles continue looking dominate this season with another big win on Saturday evening. Dane Pannell led Hobbs tonight with 24 pts. Adrian Brown had 21 pts, Earl Woods had 17 and Devante Brown added 12.
Belen Eagles (1-0) 82, Socorro Warriors 42: The Belen Eagles open the 2012-2013 basketball season with a dominating win over Socorro High School. The Eagles were led by guards Dante Vigil, Ray Montoya and Colton Lewis.
