Week Eleven: District play is around the corner but we have a few marquee match-ups this week that could affect the rest of the season.
Grine: Thursday Lessons
1. The Season of Parity Lives On: Last night, after a few days of saying some teams were out for the count they surprised us and showed life on Thursday Night. Plenty of scores that were eye openers even though there was only a handful of games. In Big School Division hoops on Thursday night we seen low-majors beat high majors and mid-majors solidify or build their resume before Districts hit all cylinders.
3. We Have Fight In Us: Not even on the radar for, "Bracket Watch: Road To The PIT" released yesterday the Cleveland Storm showed some threat - watch out District 1-5A for your sleeper. The Storm did fall last night but an overtime game to the third ranked team in New Mexico - Sandia - is impressive.
Prime Time Players: Johnny Doran
On Tuesday night, I said there is one player you need to keep an eye on in 3A basketball and that player is point guard, Johnny Doran of the Sandia Prep Sundevils. The kid has to be one of, if not the best guard in the classification. Well, Doran scored 27 points in a huge upset win over sixth ranked Eldorado last night. You can bet he will be a nominee for player of the week.
