NMPreps.com has learned that the overall point totals of the 2013 NMAA State Wrestling Brackets were not added up properly. According to multiple sources, the error occurred at the 106 pound bracket with a point mistakenly being deducted against Cleveland during a bye round.
The 2013 5A State Champion Team Scores resulted in a Co-Championship with Cleveland and Rio Grande being tied with 196.0 points. The correct team score according to our sources have the point total with Cleveland 197.0 and Rio Grande at 196.0.
We have also learned that Cleveland High School has reached out to the NMAA over the incident. Stay tuned to NMPreps.com for more information and updates regarding the 2013 State Wrestling Team Scores.
We have learned the NMAA did recognize the mistake and contacted the National Federation High School Association and because no team pointed out the mistake within a 24 hour period there is nothing that can be done. 2013 5A Wrestling State Champs will remain Cleveland and Rio Grande as *Co-Champs.
