Video: One Armed Defensive Back Brandon Madrid
During his junior season in 2012 Brandon Madrid out of Albuquerque (N.M.) Volcano Vista pulled down 9 interceptions. Madrid who has been without his left arm since birth is one of the top defensive backs in New Mexico out of the Class of 2014.
"Brandon is just an inspiration. He works hard and our kids have an easy time following someone that works that hard and overcomes so many obstacles in life," Commented Volcano Vista Head Football Coach Chad Wallin during our mid June Campus Stop at Volcano Vista High School.
Madrid ended three games last year for the Hawks with timely interceptions, including a key interception in the quarterfinal round of the play-offs to help the Hawks reach the final four for the first time in school history last season.
"Brandon is probably the best corner back in the State of New Mexico in my eyes. I go up against him every single day in practice and he makes me better, I make him better. He is probably one of the hardest workers on the team. He is getting reps in the weight room doing as much as he can, going hard all the time, he's just a great player," Commented Teammate and D-1 Prospect Connor Anderson, a towering 6-foot-5, 190 pound Receiver.
Madrid will be attending the NMPreps.com Elite Combine. Check out the latest roster update here.
During the months of June, July, and August NMPreps.com's Publisher Kyle Henderson will travel the state to preview over 40 high school football programs on their home campus. Latest Updates Here
