Henderson: 5 out in front
Buzz: The Vikings are 14-1 on the season and are a perfect 7-0 in the Month of January. Senior leadership has pushed this team to win the APS Metro Tournament and to pick up some key wins against Cleveland, Sandia, Clovis, and Atrisco Heritage as of late. Watch for Joe Anaya and NMPreps.com Mr. Basketball Candidate Adonis Saltes to continue to propel what looks like an unsinkable roster. Final four bound no doubt. .
Buzz: The Coyotes are 16-1 on the season after beating the Hobbs Eagles 84-68 on the 21st. The Coyote's lone loss on the season comes against Carlsbad losing 63-49. In 5A there seems to be much more parity among top teams, but in 4A it seems as though there is Roswell, then a few spots, then everyone else. Cesar Nava along with Marquel Warner are a top notch 1-2 punch.

Buzz: Everyone says that Hope recruits. Murphy must do a pretty good job of recruiting kindergartners as most of Hope's roster has been at Hope since grade school. The truth is: Jim Murphy is a legendary basketball coach and has taken this group to a 14-3 season record. It might not be the most talented roster he's ever had, but they have beaten some of the best teams in New Mexico, example is their 96-89 win over Sandia on the 21st. Watch for Luke Dye, Zach Williams, and Austen Drake.
Buzz: The Wolverines are 14-0 this season under Scott Karger. They have not played many games in January, but have beaten everyone in front of them. In the 2A conversation, the debate is who is better between: Texico, Laguna Acoma, and now Dexter. Laguna is undefeated and Dexter is 17-2 on the year. 2A is loaded from 1-8. Texico does have the talent to win the whole thing. Watch for Jonah Walls, Justin Rucker, Grentry Dootlittle, and Miguel Reyna to lead the way.
Buzz: Every year it seems as though the Cliff Cowboys are 15-1 or 15-0, a prime example of a well conditioned program. This year they are headlined by Tate Shelley at 6-foot-7, and 195 pounds, one of top big men in New Mexico. A few weeks ago they lost their first game of the season against Silver by 2. They score a ton of points averaging 86.0 per game.
