Metro State Farm Player Of The Week

Tyler Krueger - Manzano - Quarterback

The Manzano Monarchs are a sure shot lock for a top four seed in the Class 5A 2009 play-offs. This group of Monarchs has tons of team chemistry, plays each Thursday or Friday night with heart and every time this particular group leads that Red, White and Blue flag onto the field, you know you are in for a treat.

Today we are proud to select Manzano Quarterback Tyler Krueger as the Metro State Farm Player of Week. His week nine performance against Eldorado in a 38-6 key district victory was outstanding. Krueger threw for 130-yards off 14 attempts and two touchdowns.

The bigger Friday Night feat was his 165-yards on the ground off 28 carries. On the night, Krueger totaled 295-yards and scored three touchdowns helping Manzano end the regular season with a (9-1) season record and District 5-5A Championship Banner.

The Monarchs are idle in week 11 as they sit and await the November 7th class 5A seeding meeting which will determine the play-off bracket. Tyler Krueger, who is also a front runner for the very coveted NMPreps.com 2009 Mr. Football Award.

North/Northeast Player Of The Week

Daniel Martienz - Robertson - Running Back

The Robertson Cardinals, the comeback story of the 2009 prep football season literally shut down and controlled the St. Michael's Horsemen in week 10's 26-0 statewide shocker. The Cardinals (6-3) on the year held the Horsemen to -17 yards of total offense on the day and shut the Horsemen out for the first time in their 54 meetings. While we would like to honor the entire unit of the defense from Robertson, quarterback Daniel Martinez had a huge game on offense that propelled the Cards to a key classification win. Martinez ran for 124-yards on the day, scored a touchdown, and was a member of the Robertson defense that pulled off the goose egg. Big props to the class of 2011 members and with this huge statement victory, Robertson may claim a top four seed come seeding time.

Southeast Player Of The Week

Koby Caton - Artesia - Athlete

Koby Caton's name has been mentioned before on NMPreps.com, but he earns the week nine player of the week award in the Southeast Area for his tremendous performance against Roswell High in a 48-7 Bulldog district win. The 5-foot-9, 160 pound junior scored four touchdowns and accounted for 311 total yards off offense by himself. Caton scored off two touchdown passes from Bulldog quarterback Deven Nelson and returned a kick-off for another and returned a punt for his final touchdown of the game. Caton told the Roswell Daily Record's Jeff Keller, "I really appreciate my teammates, they made it easy for me tonight," Caton said after the game. "My teammates opened up some holes and made it easy for me to get those touchdowns."

Southwest Player Of The Week

Matthew Rammadno - Mayfield - Defensive Linemen

The Mayfield Trojans earned their ninth win of the season shutting out the Onate Black Knights 24-0 in a key district 3-5A game. Six foot five, 265 pound Matthew Rammando (a sure shot D-1 Prospect) had a night to remember. The Following Is A Quick Report From The Las Cruces Sun News: Ramondo spearheaded Mayfield's defensive effort on Friday. Mayfield eliminated Oņate's triple option attack, limiting the Knights to 68 yards rushing. Once the Knights went to the air, Ramondo was all over Oņate quarterback Brandon Roybal. Roybal threw two interceptions and finished with 111 yards passing, but Ramondo either hit him or was close every time Roybal dropped back.
