CLASS 4A RANKINGS: Goddard #1, Artesia #2
KEY STATS: Artesia has not beat Goddard in the regular season since the 2007 season. Goddard has won the last the last six out of seven games against Artesia.
COACHES: Artesia: Cooper Henderson | Goddard: San Jernigan
THE STORYLINE: The NMPreps.com Game of the Week between Artesia and Goddard, two 4A titans that are a combined 14-1 on the season. Does it get any better or any bigger? Though the Rockets have won the last six out of seven games against Artesia dating back to 2008 Artesia's offensive fire power might be enough to give Artesia their first regular season win over Goddard since the 2007 season. The numbers… Artesia is headlined by Quarterback Trevor Eulenbach who has thrown for over 2,000-yards and 25 touchdowns this year. The offense is scoring 56.25 points per game (No. 1 ranked offense in New Mexico) and their marquee wins come against Carlsbad and Clovis. Historically, when Artesia beats Carlsbad and Clovis in the same year, they are chase the blue trophy. On the flip side their defense is giving up 35.12 points per game, watch for Daniel Salinas at DT and Crosby Figg in the secondary. Artesia wants a shootout, let's see what the Rockets will give them. Goddard's offense might look vanilla, but then they run right over your defense for 48 minutes. This is a very disciplined team on offense with running back Cody French doing most of the damage behind linemen Kullen Wooten, Juan Vidals, and tight end David Sweet. Sweet is likely one of the most underrated prospects in the State of New Mexico. On defense, Nick Alston and David Chavers are two of the top defensive linemen in the State and defense is something Goddard's prides itself on giving up just 8.85 points per game. Additional Goddard players to watch include Anthony Ornelas at Quarterback, Josh Quiroz as an Athlete, and Dean McCasliter at running back.

Clovis 3-5 @ Carlsbad 5-4
The Clovis Wildcats have lost their last five out of six games, but if you ask the majority of the prep football fans in New Mexico who wins between: Clovis and Carlsbad, 63% feel that the Wildcats beat the Cavemen. The Clovis Wildcats were open in week 9, but two weeks ago they pulled off a very important win against Sandia 38-34 thanks to another monster performance from running back Kamal Cass who has just just sensational during his junior year rushing for over 1,000-yards and more than 15 touchdowns in eight games. Despite being two games under .500 Clovis is scoring a remarkable 37.87 points per game and is more than battle tested playing most of the 5A and 4A bigs from around the state. While Clovis has the edge size and talent wise coming into Friday Night's game they need to win or they'll likely miss the 2012 play-offs if you can believe that. With the amount of 5A bubble teams this year, it looks like District 4-5A will only get one team in the show. The Carlsbad Cavemen have dropped their last four out of five games this year, but beat up on Hobbs in week nine thanks to a 250-yard passing performance from Rodney Holcomb and 140-yards rushing from Dillon Caddell. The Cavemen are right now a bubble team in 5A, but with a win over Clovis they'll be a automatic lock in the play-offs as all district champs receive and automatic bid. Carlsbad's defense has to find a way to contain Cass. If Cass hits the 150-yard mark, Clovis wins by at least 10.

Portales 2-6 @ Lovington 2-5
The Portales Rams have struggled all year winning football games and have lost their last two in a row being outscored in those two games 95-0. The Ram's did take Robertson into overtime early in the year and beat Hope Christian 19-14 in Portales back in week seven. Lovington is three games under .500 this year and have to be looking to make a statement this weekend against an old rival. The Wildcat's offense has been lack luster all year scoring just 13.85 points per game. The Wildcats were open last week, but two weekends ago they were beaten 28-0 by Goddard. Lovington has athletes that are as good as any in 3A and it's still hart to count this team out because of their tradition and coaching. Running Back Justin Bromley and Quarterback David Robles need to get it going. New Lovington from here on out is what you have to be expecting.

Eunice 3-5 @ Loving 1-7
The Eunice Cardinals were defeated last weekend by Dexter 20-14, making their final two district games "must win" if the Cardinals want to reach the 2012 play-offs. The Cardinals are scoring 21.37 points per game and have some speed in the backfield with Dylan Frank and Eric Levya being two impact players that are game breakers. Loving is 1-7 this year, their line win coming against Jal, a team Eunice beat back in week one 42-0. On paper, Eunice is the 21+ favorite.

NMMI 1-7 @ Dexter 4-4
The NMMI Colts won their first game of the year beating Loving last week 21-6. The Colts might be 1-7 on the season, but they are 1-0 in district play and with an upset over Dexter the NMMI Colts would be the district champ, which would be pretty unbelievable. Dexter beat Eunice last weekend 20-14 holding Eunice to just 14 points. Dexter has been all defense this year along just 15.12 points per game.

SFIS @ Estancia 3-5
The Estancia Bears are the big favorites this weekend against Santa Fe Indian School. Estancia is coming off a heart breaking loss against Texico in which they lost 32-28 in the final seconds. Estancia's play-off chances are still alive, they just have to win their last two.

Clayton 5-3 @ Texico 7-0
The Clayton Yellow Jackets are 0-2 in district play after starting the season 5-1. Last weekend the Yellow Jackets lost to Tucumcari 27-15, making Clayton a bubble team just outside of the play-offs unless the Yellow Jackets can win their last two games of the season. Clayton under first year Head Coach Kenneth Robinson has the Jackets scoring 37.87 points per game and are led by running back Nick Wiseman. Texico at 7-0 this year won a thriller against Clayton last weekend in the final seconds 32-28. Texcio is scoring just 25.57 points per game and is led by running back Shay Harrison.

Ft. Sumner 4-5 @ Jal 2-5
A district 2-1A game that is very important as Ft. Sumner was beaten 33-0 last weekend against Hagerman. Jal is a play-off bubble and could punch their ticket with a win over Ft. Sumner.
