McCurdy 54, Escalante 46 | 1A Play-Offs
The small school game of the year so far? Of course. Friday Night near the border of the State of Colorado the McCurdy Bobcats finally made a statement in a wild shootout that will affect the 1A State Play-Off Bracket which will be released on NMPreps.com Saturday November 3rd. The McCurdy Bobcats did lead by more than 33 at not point before the Lobos made a game of it thanks to an impressive night from Renaldo Atencio who had over 200-yards rushing and over 120-yards passing. Also contributing for the Lobos was Cody Casados who ran for over 150-yards. For the Bobcats Quarterback Eric Vigil went down with an injury, but in his place was Santiago Lovato who threw for 135-yards and three touchdowns.
Piedra Vista 24, Aztec 21
With District Championship and State Football Play-Off Implication on the line, this one was big The Piedra Vista Panthers edged out the Aztec Tigers thanks to a 4th quarter field goal from Beau Clafton that would eventually seal the deal for the Panthers in a thrilling ending. The Piedra Vista Panthers are now 8-1 on the season and 2-1 in district play, meaning if they are able to edge out cross town rival Farmington in week 11 the Piedra Vista Panthers would almost be guaranteed a top four seed in the New Mexico Class 4A Football Bracket. Isaiah Valdez ran for close to 140-yards on the night and had two touchdowns according to the Farmington Daily Times. Stratton Waller also ran for a 100-yards and one touchdown. The Tigers were led by Quarterback Adam Lucero who threw for over 400-yards on the night. Aztec is now 4-4 on the season and 1-1 in district play. Photo form the Farmington Daily Times
Las Cruces 50, Gadsden 0
Any hopes that Gadsden had of making the 5A play-offs may have been crushed after being mercy ruled by one of the top teams in the State of New Mexico Friday Night in a game that lasted just two quarters. The Las Cruces Bulldawgs made quick work of District Opponent Gadsden thanks to over 379-yards of offense to move to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in District Play. Las Cruces was led by Running Back J.J. Grandados who ran for over 100-yards and scored four touchdowns. Austin Salas also had a big night scoring three times, two rushing touchdowns and one receiving. The Las Cruces Bulldawgs will take on Mayfield for the annual Battle of Las Cruces next weekend. Photo from the Las Cruces Sun News
Rio Rancho 52, Cibola 21
The Rio Rancho Rams moved to 8-1 on the season and 2-0 in district play, Cibola moved to 1-8 and 0-2 in district play. The Rio Rancho Rams were led by Easton Bruere who threw for over 400-yards and four touchdowns. Ram's receiver Austin Patterson caught two touchdowns on the night. Cleveland 56, Volcano Vista 41
The Cleveland Storm moved to 6-3 on the season and 2-0 in district play in a wild victory over the Volcano Vista Hawks Friday Night. The Cleveland Storm posted more than 500-yards of offense on the Hawks and in big thanks to a 200-yard rushing night from New Mexico Lobo Commit Romell Jordan. Steven Steele also had a big night, scoring a second half key touchdown. Cleveland will host Rio Rancho next weekend for the District 1-5A Championship Game. Last year, Cleveland beat Rio Rancho twice in two of the most memorable high school football games of the 2011 season.

Goddard 49, Artesia 19
Thanks to six Artesia turn-overs the Goddard Rockets rolled to a 30 point victory in the Wool Bowl Friday Night. In the game's opening drive the Artesia Bulldogs drove down the field and threw an interception in the end-zone. Goddard took the football right down the field for a score and it was 7-0. Artesia then fumbled, Goddard scored again and just like that it was 14-0. The game was 21-13 at the half, after Artesia got on the board when Trevor Eulenbach threw a touchdown pass to Zane Pittman and late found Weston Leonard for a 13-yard touchdown pass. In the second half it was all Goddard and Cody French's two second half break-away touchdowns put the closing remarks on the NMPreps.com Game of the Week. French ran for over 200-yards on the night as he moved past the 1,000-yard mark on the season and on defense, David Sweet had two quarterback sacks, and Nick Alston along with David Chavers played very solid defensive football as well. The Rockets are now 8-0 and will take on Roswell in week 11. Artesia will travel to Albuquerque for their final game of the season against Del Norte. The Bulldogs are 7-2 on the season and 1-1 in District.

Mayfield 48, Alamogordo 12
The Mayfield Trojans moved to 6-3 on the season after a 36 point win against district rival Alamogordo. With Las Cruces beating Gadsden tonight 50-0, Mayfield and Las Cruces once again will battle for the City of Las Cruces next week in front of more than 20,000 for the District 3-5A Championship. Mayfield was led on the night by 263-yards rushing and over 100-yards passing. Running Back Marcus Inglemon and Andrew Serna continued their big district play, each had touchdown runs on the night and Brandon Thelan caught a 52-yards touchdown pass from Serna. Sandia 42, Eldorado 34
The District 2-5A match ups just keep getting better and better and Friday Night the Sandia Matadors won a very important game against the Eldorado Eagles in a game that combined nearly 1,000-yards of offense. The Matadors earned the "W" thanks to a last second interception from Kenneth Oldfield that ended the thriller, On the night, Sandia was led by Craig Coffman who threw for just shy of 300-yards and three touchdowns. The Matadors now move to 7-2 on the season and 2-0 in District Play setting up the District 2-5A Title Game against La Cueva in week 11. Eldorado drops to 3-5 on the season and 0-2 in district play.

Clovis 34, Carlsbad 27
The District 4-5A Title Game was a thriller with each team knowing that a loss could very well end their 2012 season with a post season miss. The Clovis Wildcats went up 34-27 after Clovis Junior Running Back and NMPreps.com Mr. Football Candidate scored from 48-yards out to make it 34-27 with just minutes to play. Kass would finish with over 300-yards on the night. Carlsbad drove the length of the field, but a Rodney Holcomb interception by Clovis Underclassmen Defensive Back Peyton Lott ending the thriller as the Wildcats are now back to back District Champs granted they beat Hobbs in the season finale in week 11. Carlsbad finishes the year 5-5 and will now wait and hope for a final spot in the 2012 5A Play-Offs.

Farmington 48, Kirtland Central 6
The Farmington Scorpions are now 6-3 overall and 1-1 in district play and could still win the district championship if the are able to beat Piedra Vista next week by 10 or more points. Friday Night, the Farmington Scorpions were led by over 300-yards of rushing and a great night from Quarterback Jacob Lucas.

La Cueva 28, Manzano 12
The La Cueva Bears are now 8-1 on the season after a 16 point win against Manzano Thursday Night which also moved them to 2-0 in district play. The Bears got on the board early in the first after La Cueva Zach Silva threw an 80-yard touchdown pass to Chris Thompson to set the tone of the game. The Bears would go up 14-0 after Zilva would again hit Thompson for a second touchdown in the first quarter. On defense, Sophomore Linebacker Mitchell had an interception. Manzano was led by Angel Gonzales who threw for just shy of 300-yards.

Los Lunas 58, Miyamura 8
The Los Lunas Tigers moved to 9-0 on the season and a 58-8 win over the Miyamura Patriots in what has been a complete domination of district 6-4 this season. The Tigers have outscored their district comp by a combined 204-8. On the night, the Tigers were led by Quarterback Chris Wisneski and Defensive Linemen Greg Wortman.

Atrisco 21, Highland 10
The Atrisco Heritage Jaguars are just one game away from being 8-2 this season after a 11 point win against Highland Friday Night. The Hornets did lead this game for a short portion 3-0, but then Atrisco's Heritage Quarterback Nate Goode provided some offensive sparks as the Jaguars went on to take care of business against another District Rival. Ricci Alvidrez ran for over 100-yards against Highland.
