Week 10: Players of the Week

Each week NMPreps.com will select Players of the Week and publish the award winners each Tuesday. Coaches and fans are urged to send in weekly top performers after Friday night's game to nmpreps@yahoo.com. This will greatly insure that we select the correct player for each award.

WEEK 10: TEAM OF THE WEEK OVERALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Team: Piedra Vista Panthers The Piedra Panthers are now 8-1 following a 24-21 win over the Aztec Tigers to put them in the driver seat to win district 1-4A. The Panthers were led by Junior Isaiah Valdez and Running Back Stratton Waller in the win over the Tigers. With a win over Farmington in week 11, the Piedra Vista Panthers will likely land a top four spot in the Class 4A Play-Offs. Kamal Cass - Clovis The Class of 2014 Prospect has been having a remarkable year for the Clovis Wildcats. Last weekend against Carlsbad in a must win game for the Wildcats, Cass ran for 300-yards for his third 300 yard performance of the season. Cass is close to breaching the 2,000-yard mark this season and has already racked up 20 touchdowns on the year.
SMALL SCHOOL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NORTHERN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Santiago Lovato - McCurdy The McCurdy Bobcats came up bing in week 10 in a 59-46 win over Esclanate. On the night, Lovato caught two touchdowns at receiver, ran two touchdowns in as a running back, and threw three touchdowns at quarterback coming in for the injured Eric Vigil at quarterback in the second half. The standout play of Lovato has helped the McCurdy Bobcats secure a first round bye in the 1A State Play-Offs as the #2 seed. Marcus Lopez - Santa Rosa The Santa Rosa Lions moved to 9-0 on the season win a 48-6 win over Tucumcari. Lopez had another huge night rushing the football for 255-yards and scoring five touchdowns. He scored his sixth touchdown of the night off a fumble return on the defensive side of the football. Lopez has ran for over 1,700-yards during his season season.
METRO AREA PLAYER OF THE WEEK SOUTHWEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bo Coleman - Valley
The Valley Vikings moved to 6-3 on the year with a 56-13 win over Rio Grande in week 10 as they won their first district championship in 10-years. This week's Metro State Farm Player of the Week is Bo Coleman a junior out of Valley who has played big all year. Coleman threw for 285-yards and two touchdowns in the win. Valley will take on Highland in week 11.
J.J. Grandados - Las Cruces One of the more underrated running backs in the Class of 2013 is J.J. Grandados out of Las Cruces High School. Against Gadsden in a 50-0 win Grandados ran for four touchdowns and ran for over 100-yards in the district win. The Las Cruces Bulldawgs are now 7-1 on the season and will take on cross town rival Mayfield in the Battle for Las Cruces this weekend. .
