Week 11: Statewide Award Winners

Each week NMPreps.com will select Players of the Week and publish the award winners each Tuesday. Coaches and fans are urged to send in weekly top performers after Friday night's game to nmpreps@yahoo.com. This will greatly insure that we select the correct player for each award.

WEEK 11: TEAM OF THE WEEK OVERALL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Team: Rio Rancho Rams The Rio Rancho Rams defeated the Cleveland Storm 35-0 in the final week of the regular season. Rio Rancho was led by Sophomore Quarterback Easton Bruere who threw two touchdowns for 240-yards and Jordan Lara who ran for three touchdowns in the victory. Rio Rancho is open in week 12 awaiting the winner of Valley and Volcano Vista. Chris Wisneski - Los Lunas Chris Wisneski at Senior at Los Lunas High School continues that have a a monster year. Against Valencia last weekend, he threw for five touchdowns as the Los Lunas Tigers are now 10-0 on the season for the first time in school history. Los Lunas is awaiting the winner of Piedra Vista and St. Pius X.
SMALL SCHOOL PLAYER OF THE WEEK NORTHERN PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Chase Carson - Hatch Carson put on a memorable performance in the final game of the regular season agianst Mesilla Valley. The Junior ran for 256-yards, ran for two touchdowns, threw for 78-yards through the air, and had a 91-yard pick six for a touchdown playing on the defensive side of the ball. Hatch is the #4 seed in the 2A tournament. Marcus Lopez - Santa Rosa Each week, Santa Rosa's Marcus Lopez continues to show why he is a NMPreps.com Mr. Football Candidate from the Small School Level. Against Texico, Lopez ran for 215-yards, three touchdowns, and also had an interception on the defensive side of the ball. The Lions are now 10-0 this year and the #1 seed in the Class 2A Tournament.
METRO AREA PLAYER OF THE WEEK SOUTHWEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Zach Gentry - Eldorado The Super Sophomore out of Eldorado at 6-foot-7 and 215 pounds continues to show why he is going to be a national level recruit. In his last three games agianst La Cueva, Sandia, and Manzano Gentry has thrown for more than 1,000-yards and 8 touchdowns. Against Manzano he threw for 233-yards and scored 4 touchdowns. Jonathan Joy - Las Cruces Big time players make big time plays in big time games and Las Cruces Quarterback Jonathan Joy continued to do just that helping the Bulldawgs defeat the Trojans 36-13. Joy threw for over 100-yards, ran for over 50-yards, and has helped the Las Cruces Bulldawgs earn a #2 seed in teh 5A play-offs going 8-1 this year.

Andrew Houghtaling - Artesia Back up Quarterback Drew Houghtaling took over snaps playing for an injured Trevor Eulenbach Saturday agianst Del Norte and all he did was throw for 226-yards an six touchdown passes. Just three other Bulldogs have thrown for six touchdowns in one game, Paul Maupin, Landry Jones, and Andrew's Brother Josh who did it back in 2010. The Bulldogs finished the regular season out 8-2 and grabbed the #2 seed in the Class 4A Play-Offs.
