#10 Navajo Prep 6-4 @ #7 Clayton 6-4
Navajo Prep is the winner of district 5-2A and they have won their last four games of the season. Last weekend they beat Dulce 66-12, Clayton beat Dulce 55-0 in week one. Navajo Prep is scoring 37.6 points per game this year. Clayton, the heavy favorite to win this match up in round one is big, physical, and has a running back by the name of Nick Wisman that should have his way come Saturday afternoon running for big yards. The Yellow Jackets has earned praise from District 2-2A Coaches, which will make a believe out of any skeptic. Expect Clayton to roll this weekend.

#9 Lordsburg 5-5 @ #8 Laguna Acoma 6-4
The Lordsburg Mavericks went 2-2 against district competition and earned a play-off spot against former district rival Laguna Acoma. Lordsburg this season is scoring 25.2 points per game and led by one of the fastest running backs in all of 2A in Wendell Hayes who is capable of breaking off the big run on any carry. Laguna Acoma is two games over .500 and have won their last five games in a row, including a 51-14 win over 8-2 Ramah in the final week of the regular season. The Hawks have been led by Austin Jones this season who has been a top multi purpose player this year making plays at receiver, running back, and at defensive back. This is a very even first round match up.

#12 Mesilla Valley 4-5 @ #5 Tucumcari 7-3
The Mesilla Valley Son Blazers lost three in a row and still managed a first round game in the play-offs against Tucumcari. The Son Blazers are the Class 1A Defending State Champs and jumping to Class 2A this year has been a tough transition year for first year Head Coach Mike Draper. The Son Blazers are led by Christian Jimenez at receiver and John Jung at running back. The Tucumcari Rattlers have size, speed, and talent to make a real run at the Final Four this year. On the year, Tucumcari is led by Michael Olivas with 84 tackles, Saul Morel with 77 tackles, and Luke Smith with 64 tackles. Zach Hurd has been their premier running back having several big time games during this senior season.

#11 Ramah 8-2 @ #6 Dexter 6-4
Ramah has just two losses this year coming against Magdalena and to Laguna Acoma this year. Other than that, they are 8-0 and scoring 38.7 points per game. Their road trip to Dexter will be a fantastic challenge for their offense. Dexter at 6-4 this season has one of the top defenses in the state pound for pound and is giving up just 14.5 points per game. They started out the year 1-3, but have rebounded nicely in the second half of the season. With the weather getting colder, Dexter's defense could propel them into the final four.
