Top 25 Games

NO. 6 LAS CRUCES BULLDAWGS (0-1) vs. FRANKLIN COUGARS (TX) (1-2)
Where: Franklin High School, El Paso, TX
Grine's Pick: Dawgs +5
Dawgs-Coogs Preview
The No. 6 Las Cruces Bulldawgs looking to shake off a close loss in week one will look once again to their dominate trio. Trevor Noel is coming off a 24 point performance in week one, proving he is one of the top players in the Land of Enchantment. The Dawgs will need to rely heavy on their post play on both the offensive side and defensive side. Franklin (TX) returns big man, Raul Neri a 6'6 post player who was a major part of the 20-10 team from a year ago.
The Dawgs have to bigs for the Cougars to worry about in Kai Williams and Trevor Noel. The advantage point for the Dawgs is on the shoulders of both these post players.

Text Scores: (505) 414-4313
Why I Went With the Dawgs:
Coaches: William Benjamin has been building this team for three years now. Todd Bostic is in his first season after replacing retired head coach Carl Bailey who had been there for 19 years.
Backcourt: The Dawgs win this one too because of experience. Joe Garza is one of the top guards and players. The Cougars lack returners to the front court.
Frontcourt: Like I said I'd rather have to solid bigs than one.

No. 13 SANTA TERESA DESERT WARRIORS (0-0) vs. EL PASO TIGERS (TX) (0-0)
Where: Santa Teresa High School, Anthony, NM
Grine's Pick: Desert Warriors +10
ST-Tigers Preview
The Desert Warriors have a great match-up in the first game of the season. The teams match-up evenly as both have post players around the 6'1 - 6'3 range. The difference here is the Desert Warriors have a nice point guard in Jacob Fernandez who could be the X factor in the contest. The Tigers are also coming off a less than par showing at their own tournament last week and could be a little down this season.

No. 14 ROSWELL COYOTES (0-0) vs. RUIDOSO WARRIORS (0-0)
Where: Ruidoso High School, Ruidoso, NM
Grine's Pick: Roswell +12
Coyotes-Warriors Preview
The No. 14 Roswell Coyotes hit the road to take on 3A Ruidoso High School. The Coyotes, heavy favorites in the one will have their hands full with a much improved Ruidoso team. The Coyotes have so many weapons however and will have the huge advantage in the post with Alex Alex Olesinski and Anthony Olguin in the paint. You can be sure the difference in this contest is within these two bigs.

No. 21 CAPITAL JAGUARS (0-0) vs. SANTA FE INDIAN BRAVES (0-0)
Where: Brave Pavilion, Santa Fe, NM
Grine's Line: Jaguars +19
Jaguar-Brave Preview
Well, nothing to special or anything that you don't know about in this game but a good game for the Jaguars to kick off a season. The No. 21 Jaguars have a solid game to tune up the season and get the core pieces working together. You can be sure that guard Christian Martinez and Mikey Lopez will get theirs

Non-Top 25 Games to Watch

ONATE KNIGHTS (3-0) vs. ANDRESS EAGLES (TX) (1-2)
Where: Andress High School, El Paso, TX
Grine's Line: Knights +1
Knights-Eagles Preview
The Knights and Eagles meet for the second time this young season with the Knights having the bragging rights. It was a close game though and again will be a close, very aggressive contest. I have to like the Knights senior core in this one but it will be interesting to see how they bounce back from the loss in the title game.
