It's week four and we have some intriguing games come Tuesday Night. Several teams looking to make early statement.

Week Five: Five Must See Games Tuesday Night

GAME OF THE NIGHT

No. 17 ALAMOGORDO vs. No. 18 SANTA TERESA
Where: Santa Teresa High School
Time: 7:00PM
Preview: Both teams met a week ago, in what was a low scoring affair with the Tigers of Alamogordo coming out ahead, 35-28. It was the first loss for the defending 4A champion, Desert Warriors. Both teams are looking to make big impression in their respected classifications and this game is a must win as a resume builder. Tigers guard Tyler Day has been climbing the charts lately but they will need production from others as Santa Teresa will be ready to defend the rising guard. The Desert Warriors will continue to look for second chance points by their bigs. Seems like everyone is crashing the boards.
Grine's Pick: Tigers +2

5A SEEDING IMPLICATIONS GAME

No. 9 LA CUEVA vs. No. 19 RIO GRANDE
Where: La Cueva High School
Time: 7:00PM
Preview: The Bears looked solid last week in going 2-0 after losing in week one. Senior guard Bryce Alford is the determining factor for the Bears this season and look for him to try and run away with this game early. The Ravens who have the athleticism to press will look to take away Alford's half court offense, typically where he is dangerous. The Ravens will look to Mike Torrez as the Bears lack the frontcourt to defend such a talented big.
Grine's Pick: Upset, Ravens +3

4A SEEDING IMPLICATIONS

No. 12 ST. PIUS X vs. GRANTS
Where: Grants High School
Time: 7:00 PM
Preview: The Sartans come into the game after a 2-0 start to their season last week. The Sartans are a very balanced team with depth at every position. Two unknown, under the radar role players are wing Joe Sanchez and post Larry Whalden to go along side Top 150 players Micah Sanchez and Nick Stafford. Sanchez loves to cut off the backdoor while Sanchez has solid passing abilities. Stopping the backcourt is a must. The Pirates are coming into it after a big loss to No. 25 Espanola Valley and will look ready to get a big win on their resume. The Pirates bring some balance as well just maybe a year off. Jacob Wilcox has been one of the more consistent Pirate players in the two games.
Grine's Pick: Sartans +5

BUBBLE BUSTER GAME OF THE NIGHT

DEMING vs. GADSDEN
Where: Gadsden High School
Time: 7:00 PM
Preview: Both teams missed the playoffs last season and need everyone possible to build their argument for a bid in 2013. Gadsden has started above average this year and looking to make the tournament. Look for them to slow down a very quick Wildcats team from Deming. The Wildcats are sitting a bit better than the Panthers as far as tournament bids but every win counts and this loss could set them back. Look for the frontcourt to really look to push the tempo and get the Panthers out of their element.
Grine's Pick: Wildcats +4

SMALL SCHOOL DIVISION MUST SEE

PECOS vs. SANTA ROSA
Where: Santa Rosa High School
Time: 7:00 PM
Preview: The Pecos Panthers have fallen off the charts a little bit in Small School Division basketball after a loss to Bosque High School. They could be at full force in this one however, as the Lions could be affected greatly by the football players still celebrating the 2A State Championship. I like this game though for both teams and could play into late season seeding arguments.
Grine's Pick: Panthers +7
