La Cueva 105, Rio Grande 82
The La Cueva Bears would take on the Rio Grande Ravens on Thursday night and the event showcased Bryce Alford and his new and improved game. The Bears improve to 3-1 after the convincing win and more importantly the Bears are beginning to put all the pieces together to help Bryce and the Bears from being a one man show. The senior guard Bryce Alford was able to make it rain on the night dropping a Thursday night high 32 points but his teammates were also there for the success as J.D. Barela had 17 points and Ryan Wenze-Bullard added 14 for La Cueva. This is a good sign for the Bears and they will look to keep the recipe going for the remainder of the year.

Eldorado 81, Highland 60
The Eldorado Eagles, took on the Highland Hornets in some Thursday night hoops action. The Eldorado Eagles were simple to tall, and too good for the Highland Hornets on the night as 6'7'' Zach Gentry was able to dominate the boards and collect a smooth 16 points to help the Eagles cause. Leading things off offensively for the Eagles was Cullen Neal who had a game high 20 points, and also contributing was Kane Martinez who had 16 points of his own. Leading the way for the Hornets was Bryan Medina who had 15 points. The Eagles remain undefeated at 4-0 on the year.

Volcano Vista 81, Bernalillo 63
The Volcano Vista Hawks took on the Bernalillo Spartans in the first round of the Joe Armijo Classic and it was the Hawks who would run away with this one. The speed, size and sharpshooting of the Hawks was to much for the Spartans on the night. LEading the way for the spartans was Brandon Saiz who had a Game high 25 points, and also contributing was Tristan Arnett who had 17 points of his own. LEading the charge for the Hawks was Connar Anderson who had 15 points and Sam Haywood who had 13 points of his own. The Hawks improve to 2-3 on the year and the Spartans are now 3-2.

Lovington 52, Artesia 49
The Lovington Wildcats made a fantastic comeback Thursday Night in the opening round of the Artesia City Champions Tournament beating Host Artesia by three. After trailing 37-23 at the end of the third, the Wildcats went on a roll to outscore the Bulldogs 29-12 in the 4th quarter. On the night, Jason Hare led the Wildcats. Lovington moves to the winner bracket of the tournament and will take on Moriarty Friday Night at 8PM.

Cibola 64, Hope Christian 57
The Cibola Cougars took on the Hope Christian Huskies in the First Round of the Joe Armijo Classic at Albuquerque High. The Story of the game was the size advantage the Cougars enjoyed and used to their benefit as they would go on to win behind the efforts of the Big 3 for the Cougars. Leading the way offensively for the Cougars was Preston Bungei who had 17 points, Taylor Barney who had 11 points, and Ross Buchman who had 10 points. The loss drops hope to 1-2 on the year

Mayfield 60, Los Alamos 49
The Mayfield Trojans took on the Los Alamos Hilltoppers on Thursday night at the Joe Armijo classic in some first round action that was mostly a one sided affair. The Trojans simply outclassed Los Alamos and would end up pulling away with this one thanks in part to stout defense and better shooting/rebounding as they scored 25 points in the final period of play. Leading the way for the Trojans was Isaac Rivera who had a game high 24 points.

Sandia Prep 59, Thoreau 29
The Sandia Prep Sundevils would take on the Thoreau Hawks in the first round of the Sundevil Invitational. The Sandia Prep Sundevils would simply outclass the Hawks on the night as Sandia Prep would move on to win behind the efforts of Jonny Doran who had a game high 16 points, also contributing for the Sundevils was Tyler Dorner who had a nice 14 point game. Sandia Prep moves to 4-1 on the season and Thoreau drops to 4-2 on the year.

Robertson 65, Hot Springs 57
The Robertson Cardinals took on the Hot Springs Tigers in the first round of the Sundevil Invitational, the game featured the uptempo brand of basketball Robertson produces year in and year out and the sharshooting efforts of the Cardinals earned them the victory on THursday night.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Orman Courruei who had 17 points and Casey Swain who had 10 points. Leading the way for the Cardinals offensively was Ryan Tafoya who had a game high 24 points, and Joe Mascarenas who added 14 points.

Mora 71, Tucumcari 64
The Mora Rangers took on the Tucumcari Rattlers on THursday night as the two teams went back and fourth on the night but in the end it was the Rangers who ended up pulling away thanks to a 2nd half adjustments. The Rangers were lead offensively by Cody Najar who had 22 points, and Lorenzo Chavez who had 20 points of his own.

Piedra Vista 59, Shiprock 58
The Piedra Vista Panthers took on the Shiprock Chieftains on the nigh in the first round of the Marv Sanders invitational and the Panthers would end up winning one of the closes matchup of the night. The win can be credited to the whole Panthers team but it was Satchel Baker of Piedra Vista who had a chance to win the game from the free-throw line. Making the 1st shot of his 1-1, but would miss the 2nd chance and the Panthers would hold on to win 59-58. Leading the way for the Panthers offensively was Steven Jaquez who had 15 points, and Satchel Baker who had 14 points and the most crucial free-throws of the evening as the Panthers would hang on to win the nail bitting contest.

Eldorado 32, Del Norte 27
The Eldorado Lady Eagles took on the Del Norte Lady Knights on Thursday night. The Eagles would go on to win the close contest thanks in part to some clutch free throws down the stretch and the Combined efforts of Jessica Depoy of the Lady Eagles who had 7 a team high 7 points and Kylie Coffman who had 5 points.

La Cueva 74, Highland 30
The La Cueva Lady Bears would take on cross town foe the Highland Lady Hornets on Thursday night as the two teams nights couldn't have been any more opposite. The Lady bears seemed to find the bottom of the net with ease where as the shooting struggles for the Hornets would take them out of the game fairly early in the first half. The lady Bears would end up wining in decisive fashion. The Lady Bears were lead on the night by Alexa Romano who had 16 points and Alyssa Yocky who had 12 points. La Cueva is now 3-2 on the season.

Hope Christian 54, Cibola 41
The Hope Christian Lady Huskies would take on the Cibola Lady Cougars in some first round action of the Joe Armijo Classic. The Lady Huskies would improve to 4-1 on the season after a good early season win against a quality opponent as the Cibola Lady Cougars are 3-1 on the year and off to a good start of their own. Leading the way for the Cougars despite the loosing effort was Kassandra Harris who had 14 points. The Huskies were lead offensively by Marissa Perry who had a game high 18 points and also contributing was Leala Longmirengmire who pitched in with 12 points.

Los Lunas 77, Los Alamos 45
The Los Lunas Lady Tigers took on the Los Alamos Hilltoppers in the first round of the Joe Armijo Classic. Los Lunas would remain undefeated on the year and is now 4-0. LEading the way for the Hilltoppers offensively was Erin Kirk who had 11 points. For the lady Tigers the charge would be set by Teige Zeller who had a game high 15 points and Tinaya Murphy who had 14 points of her own.

Onate 47, ABQ. Academy 46, Overtime
The Onate lady Knights took on the Albuerque Academy Lady Chargers in the first round of the Joe Armijo classic. The matchup would take more then just 4 quarters to settle to score and would end up going into overtime, however it was Onate that would prevail victories on the night following a great game offensively by Sharolette Shanks who had a game high 21 points, and also contributing for Onate was Taralyn Trujillo who had 10 points of her own.

Volcano Vista 71, Espanola Valley 63
The Volcano Vista Lady Hawks took on the Espanola Valley Sundevils as the teams meet in the firs round of the Joe Armijo Classic. The Lady Hawks would look to dominate the paint with the play of their bigs and the success of the game plane paid off as the Lady Hawks would hold on to win despite the best efforts of the lady Sundevils. Leading the way for Volcano Vista was Nikki Begay who had 11 points, Bianca Peace who had 11, and Raven Herrera who had a game high 17 points.

Las Cruces 53, Miyamura 43
The Las Cruces Lady Bulldawgs would take on the Miyamura Lady Patriots in the first round of the Moriarty Tournament. The lady Dawgs would go on to win thanks to a nice 1st half defensive effort that would give them the lead. Las Cruces would hang on to win. The offensive charge was lead by Graizon Alaniz who had 20 points, and also contributing was Presleigh Smiley whith 19 points.

Clovis 80, La Joya (Ariz) 13
The Clovis Lady Wildcats would take on out of state La Joya Arizona on Thursday night and the folks from Arizona were not treated as a guest should be as the Clovis lady Wildcats would absolutely beat down the out of town visitors. Leading the way for the Lady Wildcats was Dani Williams who had a game high 27 points, also helping out was Brandi Gomez who had 11 points.

Mayfield 48, Roswell 32
The Mayfield lady Trojans and the Roswell Lady Coyotes would do battle in the first round of the Mel Otero Invitational. The Mayfield lady Trojans remain undefeated at 8-0 on the year and the night was a celebration thanks to the efforts of Audrey Oliver who had 16 points and Victoria Marez who had 11 points.

Hobbs 68, For Carson CO 33
The Hobbs Lady Eagles would take on out of state Fort Carson Colorado on Thursday night. THe Lady Eagles would win decisively behind the efforts of Mackenzie Latimer who had a game high 20 points and Danielle Patterson who had 15 points of her own.

Rio Rancho 41, Manzano 30
The Rio Rancho Lady Rams would take on the Manzano lady Monarchs in round 1 of the Mel Otero Invitational, Rio rancho would hang on to win a close contest thanks to a nice 4th quarter effort. The lady Rams were lead by Ally Salata who had a team high 13 points, and for Manzano despite the loosing effort Jourden Williams had a game high 19 points for the Lady Monarchs.
