Boys Basketball Recaps:
EP Immanuel Christian 60, Cloudcroft 43

The Cloudcroft Bears took on the Immanuel Christian Warriors in the first round of the Mescalero Invitational. The Bears were able to hang in the first half trailing only 25-2, but with the bigger and more physical team getting things going offensively for the Warriors in the 2nd half the score grew a bit more lopsided as the minutes wore down. For Cloudcroft the loss is a good one because it shows the Bears what they need to work on if they are to get better as a unit. Playing better 2nd half defense, and solidifying there interior post game. Leading the way for the Bears was Marshal Miller with 18 points, and Rayce Collins and Xach Comino with 7 points.

Shiprock 78, Bloomfield 39
The Shiprock Chieftans took on the Bloomfield Bobcats and the skill set differential was apparent as early as the first quarter as the Cheiftans led 24-2 after the 1st quarter. The Chieftans would outclass the Bobcats on the night and would win easily. Leading the way for the CHieftans was Dominique Todacheenie who had a game high 20 points for Shiprock, also contributing was Justin Begay who had 18 points, and Hiram Gleason who had 10 more.

Pojoaque 64, Penasco 34
The Pojoaque Elks took on the Penasco Panthers on Thursday night, as the two teams meet for the first time this year. Panasco came out a bit flat and was never really in the game from the get go. A lackadaisical effort and tough Elk defense forced the Panthers to create some bad turnovers leading to points in transition for the Elks and ultimately delivering the win to the superior Elks team.

Kirtland Central 54, Gallup 53
The Kirtland Central Broncos took on the Gallup Bengals on Thursday Night as the Broncos would end up winning in dramatic fashion after Reese Foutz scored the go ahead basket with just 15 seconds left to play. The Broncos were able to hold of the last second charge and come away with the victory. Despite the late rally by the Bengals, the Broncos big man Christian Mackey led the charge offensively and poured in 17 points for his team while also grabbing 15 rebounds. Also contributing to the Broncos game was Bud WIllie who had 14 points and 8 rebounds.

Piedra Vista 65, Bayfield Colo 39
The Piedra Vista Panthers took on the Bayfield Colorado Wolverines on Thursday night. For Piedra Vista the win is a good on and helps rebuild some morale after loosing 3 straight in gut wrenching fashion. For the Panthers the win can be credited to more of an overall team effort on the night and a great sense of chemistry. Leading the way for the Panthers was Ty Jacquez who had 17 points on the night.

Mora 79, Springer 41
The Mora Rangers took on the Springer Red Devils on Thursday night, for Mora the win is a good way to bounce back after a tough loss against Santa Rosa, for the Rangers the win was delivered thanks to a great performance out of Cody Najar who had a game high 19 points.

GIrls Basketball Recaps
Santa Fe High 29, St. Michael's 28

The Santa Fe High Demonettes took on cross town rival in the St. Michael's lady Horseman on thursday night and would end up wining a very closely contested game, for the Demonettes the win keeps them in the undefeated collum as they are a perfect 10-0 on the season so far. Leading the way for Santa Fe High was Kayla Martinez who had a game high 14 points.

Cloudcroft 46, Carrizozo 44
The Cloudcroft lady Bears took on the Carrizozo Grizzlies in a first round match up of the Mescalero Tournament on Thursday Afternoon. The Cloudcroft Lady Bears were able to pull out a close matchup between the two team for the 2nd time on the year. Leading the way offensively for the lady Bears was Stacie O'Connor who had 21 points, and leading the way for the Grizzlies was Ventura Beltran and Andrea Beltran who had 12 points each.

Bayfield Colo 52, Farmington 43
The Farmington Lady Scorpions took on the Bayfield Colorado lady Wolverines in the first round of the Farmington Tournament. Farmington was able to make a game of it in the 2nd half but a little to late as the Wolverines were able to hang on for the win. Leading the way for the Lady Scorpions was Shayna Carlowe with a team high 13 points, and Tishena Yazzie who had 11 points of her own.

Shiprock 61, Mead Colo 46
The Shiprock Lady Chieftans took on the Mead Colorado Lady Mavericks in the first round of the Farmington Tournament. Geovonie Harry lead the charge for the 7-1 lady Chieftains as she poured in a cool 19 points, also contributing was Taylor Henderson who had 12 points and Ashley John who had 10 points.

Grants 29, Kirtland Central 18
The Grants Lady Pirates took on the Kirtland Central Lady Broncos and the win would help solidify the lady Pirates spot in the top 25 in NMPreps.com's latests women's high school basketball rankings.
