Week Eight: Pecos Wins NRG
Highlights: Pecos over Mora
Ben Lujan Gym - Pecos Panthers 81, Mora Rangers 65: The Pecos Panthers and the Mora Rangers faced off for the second time in just over 7 days, A rivalry that needs no more fuel to the fire just added some as the Panthers were able to take home the NRG Championship trophy while blowing past arch rival Mora by 16 points.
The Rangers are now 9-4 and while they are not out of the play-off picture just yet though. Leading the way for the Rangers on the night was Cody Najar who had 20 points, and Amrick Vasquez who had 19.
For the Panthers leading the way offensively was Johnny Trujillo who had a career high 33 points and 15 rebounds also helping out was Darren De Herrera who had 15 points and Brandon Quintana who added 10 of his own.

No. 5 Hobbs 117, Midland Christian 56: Coming off a loss in their tournament championship the Hobbs Eagles pulled away early and it was never a contest after that. Nine players scored over eight points according to Clayton Jones of the Hobbs News-Sun.
No. 11 Las Cruces 71, No. 6 Clovis 57: Pulling off a major road win and upset is the No. 11 Bulldawgs over the No. 6 Clovis Wildcats on Saturday night. The No. 6 Clovis Wildcats were upset last week coming in outside the top-5 but ended up losing a must win "seeding implication" type of game. The win is big for the Bulldawgs who will benefit come March with this resume booster of a win.
Bosque 71, Tucumcari 59: In a battle of two middle tier small school division teams, the Bobcats of Bosque slowly moved ahead all night long. Andres Rivera led the way for the Bobcats with 28 points and connected on 4 three pointers on the day. Chris Crespin poured in 29 points for the Rattlers of Tucumcari.
No. 16 Albuquerque Academy 41, St. Michael's 40: In a closer than expected match-up the No. 16 team in the state the Albuquerque Academy Chargers won a late contest by one point over the unranked Horsemen. Tommy Lindgren was the only Charger in double figures with 10 points. Cory Serna had 9 points for the Horsemen who have dropped back to back games.
Mesilla Valley 57, No. 23 Los Lunas 48: For the second night in a row the No. 23 Los Lunas Tigers were upset once again and this time to a small school division team in the Sonblazers of Mesilla Valley. Leading the way for the Sonblazers was Jeff Adler with 19 points along with 16 points from Devyn Rice. The win is one of the biggest on the season for the Sonblazers who had been struggling up to this point. Ben Romero had 12 points for the Tigers.
Mayfield 60, Valencia 51: In a battle of two teams needing any win possible the Mayfield Trojans pulled out early and stayed ahead a majority of the night minus a slow third quarter. The Trojans were led by sophomore Daniel Munoz with 11 points. Josh Baca paced the way for the Jaguars with 20 points.
Los Alamos 57, Taos 54 (OT): For the first time this season the Hilltoppers of Los Alamos won a game. The Hilltoppers beat a slumping Tigers squad who was ranked in the Top-25 at one point this season.
Dora 77, Mescalero 28: Dora was led by top small school player Dylan Privett who had 24 points to move past Mescalero on Saturday night. Tyler Sites (18) and Dalton Privettt (16) were also in double figures for the Coyotes.
