    Tuesday Lessons Learned

    1. Cibola is not that deep but neither is Volcano: The game was an odd one with Cibola only having 8-points in the entire first half of play. Both teams don't go far into the bench maybe and I mean maybe seven deep. This could be a reason for the inconsistent play.

    2. Valley on top in District 5-5A: With a loss the standings in this District could have become more congested but the Vikings stay on top and could be playing for a top spot in March. The Bulldogs will look to stay slightly ahead of the rest of the District for the runner up spot.

    3. 4A will look different: 4A Road To The PIT came out Tuesday afternoon and could already look to change as the Capital Jaguars could be moving back up and the Sundevils down. Gallup smashed Belen making them possibly climb.

    Prime Time Player: Joe Anaya

The Vally product goes off again dropping 32 points in the close District 5-5A game. Anaya is quickly climbing the charts each and every night.

    Tuesday Starting Five

  • Jason Baca, West Mesa: 18 points
  • Kaydon Sneed, Cleveland: 21 points
  • Matty Martinez, Volcano Vista: Overall performance
  • Luke Thomas, Moriarty: 13 points.

    Grine: Tuesday Rundown

Overtime: No. 20 Capital 60, No. 13 Espanola Valley 58. The Capital Jaguars who need a win to put them back on top did just that on Tuesday night and move into first place of District 2-4A.

Surprise Margin: Atrisco Heritage 71, Rio Grande 49. The Jaguars ran away with this one in the second half and are now back in play for the District runner up race. The win also puts them in a better spot for a top spot in March.

Statement WIn: : St. Pius X 65, Albuquerque Academy 44. The Sartans, the number one team in 4A, won once again in convincing fashion over longtime rival Academy. The Sartans are now in full control of the District 5-4A title.

Big Win: Cleveland 68, Rio Rancho 62. The Storm are locked in a three way tie for first place now with this win. This win places them in serious contention to get the final spot in the bracket come March.

Much Needed Win: Moriarty 62, Del Norte 46. The Pintos were on the outside looking in this week on our bracket watch. Thanks to the big play of Luke Thomas (13 points), James Grider (14 points) and Cody Striker (14 points) the Pintos are back in play.

Surprise Win: Mora 62, Santa Fe Prep 55. The Rangers have been counted out as of late and this win puts them back into some consideration for a top-8 spot. The Blue Griffins haven't had the best month of hoops on the other end.
