NMPreps.com's 2013 Mr. Baseball Finalists

At the end of each baseball season the NMPreps.com staff selects "The NMPreps.com Mr. Baseball Award Powered By Defined Fitness". Today we are asking you to take part in the voting. It's simple... Vote for the best baseball player in the State of New Mexico from our nominated four candidates. The winner will be released on May 20th, 2013.

NMPreps.com's 2013 Mr. Baseball Finalists

ANDRE VIGIL - SENIOR - VOLCANO VISTA
POSITION: INFIELD/PITCHER
GRADUATION YEAR: 2013
COMMITTED SCHOOL: UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT ANDRE VIGIL: New New Mexico High School Career Record Holder for most home runs in a career with 36. New Mexico Lobo Commit. Pitches and plays middle infield.
KYLE HENDERSON'S OVERALL TAKE: The first time I met Andre Vigil was actually on the football field as Vigil was a top rated running back and attended the NMPreps.com Elite Combine before choosing to focus on strictly baseball for next level purposes. Very solid hitter at the plate and has been very productive since his freshmen season. He hit 10 home runs as a freshmen, hit 17 as a sophomore, only 3 his junior year (first year of wood bats), and 6 home runs this season. Well rounded young man that will contribute for the Lobos in the future.
KEY STATS: Batting well over .400 this season for the Hawks with 6 home runs and over 20 RBI's. As mentioned he is the new New Mexico High School Baseball Home Run King with 36 career home runs.

CALEB PRENTISS- JUNIOR - CARLSBAD
POSITION: PITCHER
GRADUATION YEAR: 2014
COMMITTED SCHOOL: UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT CALEB PRENTISS: Only a junior, Prentiss is one of the top overall pitchers to come out of Carlsbad, New Mexico. His delivery keeps batters very off balanced, great endurance, and has next level velocity.
KYLE HENDERSON'S OVERALL TAKE: Carlsbad has won 22 games this year, 10 coming from when Prentiss is on the mound as he is 10-1 this year in 12 appearances. Carlsbad, the defending Class 5A State Champ has quality depth in the bullpen, but when sets Prentiss apart from anyone in New Mexico is his precision allowing him to place any pitch he wants. That control over his arsenal of pitchers has allowed him to rack up an outstanding 87 strikeouts. He is a rare breed, but also an example of success that comes from talent combined with excellent work ethic.
KEY STATS: Let's start out with this: Prentiss is just one of two in Class 5A this year that has thrown a perfect game. On the season he is 10-1 with 87 strikeouts, he has walked his 12 batters, and overall his ERA is 1.22 through 64 innings.

KEENAN DODD - JUNIOR - HOPE CHRISTIAN
POSITION: INFIELD/PITCHER
GRADUATION YEAR: 2014
COMMITTED SCHOOL: TBA (PLENTY OF D-1 INTEREST)
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT KEENAN DODD: We have had some very talented Class 3A players over the years, but few have produced numbers like Dodd has as just a Junior.
KYLE HENDERSON'S OVERALL TAKE: Growing up, Dodd had plenty of options to attend larger public schools, but putting education first the Dodd family kept him at Hope Christian since 1st grade and it's paid dividends. Dodd currently carries a 4.6 G.P.A and leads the State of New Mexico in Home Runs this season with 10. He is currently uncommitted college wise, but has plenty of D-1 interest and plays for the New Mexico School of Baseball during the summer season. Great swing at the plate and also contributes for his team on the mound with a 5-1 record pitching.
KEY STATS:10 Home runs, 45 RBI's, and a record of 5-1 pitching puts Dodd among the Elite in New Mexico. Very talented 2014 Prospect that has emerged as a top player regardless of classification.

REGAN RAMOS - SENIOR - COBRE
POSITION: INFIELD
GRADUATION YEAR: 2013
COMMITTED SCHOOL: NEW MEXICO STATE UNIVERSITY
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT REGAN RAMOS: Senior prospect from Bayard, New Mexico that has made a name for himself since his freshmen season. Stats are ridiculous and his play has landed him a New Mexico State Scholarship.
KYLE HENDERSON'S OVERALL TAKE: Ramos has been a top level player since his eighth grade year, remember just until the 2013 season, Cobre was playing 3A baseball. On the season, Ramos has helped Cobre to the number two overall seed in Class 2A with some play-station like numbers. He has hit 9 home runs, 45 RBI's, has an on base percentage of .647, his slugging percentage is 1.183, and has 25 stolen bases. Team leader and a major reason why Cobre is a front runner to win the Class 2A State Title.
KEY STATS: He has hit 9 home runs, 45 RBI's, batting average of .598, has an on base percentage of .647, his slugging percentage is 1.183, and has 25 stolen bases
