Top-25 Rundown For Tuesday

No. 1 Valley (3-0) vs. Valencia (2-0): The newly ranked number one team in New Mexico will have it's first game as the top team in the state. Led by seniors Joe Anaya and Adonis Saltes this one could open up quickly. The two are scoring over 20 points a game and should stuff the stats in this one. The Jaguars will bring some fight and an impressive 2-0 start to the table.
Pick: Valley +16

**UPSET ALERT** No. 4 Atrisco Heritage Academy (2-0) vs. No. 13 Volcano Vista (2-1): The Jaguars of Atrisco are off to a hot start topping teams by 40 plus points in it's opening games. Corbin Waquie is one of the top guards in the state along with Joe Brooks creating a dynamic duo. The Volcano Vista Hawks have started off with one of the toughest schedules this far and will have another Top-5 opponent to match up with.
Pick: Volcano Vista +1.4

**BIG GAME TUESDAY** No. 6 Cibola (2-1) vs. No. 10 West Mesa (2-1): A bit shocking the Cibola Cougars and West Mesa Mustangs come in with a big headline as both teams are on the verge of becoming contenders in most eyes. The Cougars have talented guards Kevin Saiz and Derek Martinez. Saiz has become a heavy favorite early this season and could see his stock rise in the Mr. Basketball race. West Mesa has silently climbed the rankings and had an impressive showing to open the season last week.
Pick: Cibola +2

No. 12 Alamogordo (4-1) vs. Santa Teresa (3-4): The Tigers start the season (4-1) and continue to climb the rankings. Watch out for a few underrated players for the Tigers this season like JJ Johnson. This could be a dangerous team all season long and evident by how quick they have climbed in the Top-25. Santa Teresa always a well coached team that just lacks some depth right now.
Pick: Alamo +7

**SOUTH GAME OF THE NIGHT** No. 19 Deming (4-0) vs. No. 25 Gadsden (6-0): The battle of two "unknowns" as they both enter the Top-25 for the first time this season. For the (6-0) Panthers of Gadsden this is the first Top-25 ranking in over 3-years. Dominic Saenz, as projected, has become the leader of the Wildcats of Deming this season and could continue making a big name for himself in this contest.
Pick: Gadsden +2

One Line: Other Non-Top-25

Thoreau (3-1) vs. Native American Community Academy (2-2): The Hawks of Thoreau have a solid (3-1) start and will take on small school division team NACA. Shanton Yazzie is an underrated point guard to keep an eye on. Pick: Thoreau +4

Centennial (4-2) vs. Hot Springs (2-5): The Centennial Hawks have two Top-25 wins under their belt at this point and are one of the next teams considered for the Top-25. Pick: Centennial +18

Silver (0-0) vs. Chaparral (1-4): The Silver Colts open the season tonight and ranked high in 3A this could be another Top team to watch in the classification. Pick: Silver +7

**CLOSE WATCH** Lovington (3-3) vs. Dexter (4-0): This one has everything you could want and all be one of the most exciting games thus far. Dexter is ranked No. 1 in small school division basketball. Pick: Lovington +3

No. 13 Las Cruces (1-3) vs. Chapin, TX (7-3): The Bulldawgs need a spark and this could be the game or the (7-2) Huskies runaway with it. Pick: Chapin +7

Goddard (1-2) vs. Portales (1-1): Both teams are looking for early respect and will need this game come seeding time. Pick: Goddard +1

Belen (0-2) vs. Los Alamos (0-3): Both teams are currently outside their class-action Top-16 and looking for their first win of the season. Pick: Belen +5

Aztec (1-2) vs. Shiprock (2-2): A northwest battle that puts two teams still searching for an identity at this point along with both needing this win. Pick: Shiprock +8
