Week 12: Saturday Night Recap

Today we recap the Week 12 Saturday Night Games from across the State of New Mexico.

Los Lunas 71, Belen 64
The Tigers defeated rival Belen by 7 last night. Chris Sanchez led the way with 27 big points, while Jacob Holland added 25.

Magdalena 107, Mountainair 30
Five players were in double digits last night as Magdalena broke the 100 point barrier. Dre Montoya led with 29, followed by Tyler Julian with 17. Michael Chambers and Brandal Padilla each had 15 and Jorrell Mirabal added 11. Magdalena advances to 20-1.

Logan 57, Springer 48
Junior Wyatt Strand led the way once again for Logan, as he knocked down 18 points yesterday. Wesley Gudgell and Dennis Earle added 14 and 10 respectively. Logan advances to 13-10 on the season.

Cimarron 68, Questa 65
Cimarron earns another home win as they defeated Questa by 3. Alonzo Chavez had 28 on the night, followed by Jacob Subratie, 11, and Carlos Martinez, 10. Cimarron is now 11-8 on the season.

Escalante 73, Coronado 26
The Lobos remain perfect at home thanks to senior Reynaldo Atencio who had 22 points and 12 steals last night. Adam Edwards added 14 and 10 rebounds, Norman Salazar with 11 and Joseph Hurd had 10. Escalante advances to 16-3.

Springer 36, Logan 35
Freshman Danielle Blake had 10 points in Springer's 1 point victory last night. Logan's Kippi Webb and Shana Sorrels each had 10 as well. Springer advances to 13-7 while Logan is 18-5.

Volcano Vista 49, Cleveland 41
The Hawks defeated the strong home quad by 8 last night. Seth Warfield had 16 on the night. Ryan Jones of Cleveland led all scorers with 20. Volcano advances to 13-7, while Cleveland goes 17-5.

Eldorado 75, La Cueva 72
The Eagles get a key district win as they defeated the visiting Bears by 3 last night. Big man Zach Gentry dropped 24 points, while senior point guard Chris Brazier added 20. Eldorado advances to 14-6 and La Cueva falls to 6-14.

Rio Rancho 57, Cibola 49
Scoring 6 points in 16 seconds led the Rams to not only an 8 point victory over Cibola, but the first place spot in their district. Brady Patterson led with 22 points. Cibola's Kevin Saiz had 20. Rio Rancho advances to 11-11 and Cibola falls to 10-10.

Las Cruces 73, Alamogordo 61
The defending 5A state champs earned another victory last night as they knocked down Alamogordo by 12. Malik Wood led the Bulldawgs with 21 points. Cody Murillo added 14, Mike Uribe with 13, and Anthony Collins had 11. Both teams are now 3-2 in district play.

St. Pius 47, Moriarty 30
The Sartans take ahold of their district as they defeated Moriarty by 17 last night. Ray Reyes had 17 on the night and James Portillos had 11. Pius advances to 14-6.

Hope Christian 78, Santa Fe Indian 36
The Huskies remain at the top of 3A as they defeated the Braves by 42. Luke Dye led the way with 14 points. Hope advances to 19-3.

Laguna Acoma 80, Estancia 38
Undefeated at home is one thing, but not losing a single game this far in the season is something else. That is exactly what the Hawks have done. With a 42 point victory over Estancia last night, Laguna Acoma advances to 23-0 on the season. Estancia falls to 10-12.

Magdalena 80, Desert Academy 59
The Steers continue to roll as they defeated the home squad last night by 21. With the win, Magdalena improves to an impressive 19-1. Desert Academy goes 12-8 on the season.

Clovis 39, Hobbs 33
The Lady Wildcats snuck by the Eagles last night has they held on to the 6 point victory. Danni Williams was the only Wildcat to hit double digits at 16. Clovis advances to 22-0, while Hobbs goes 20-4.

Volcano Vista 80, Cleveland 54
The Lady Hawks remain undefeated at home as they defeated the Storm by 26 last night. Hannah Fenske led the way with 27 big points. Bianca Perez added 24 and Deezha Battle had 14. Volcano goes 17-3 and Cleveland falls to 7-15.

Espanola 48, Santa Fe 47
Just when everyone believed Santa Fe was the favorite in 4A, Espanola came out and beat them by 1. Katlyn Romero saved the day as she hit a big buzzer beater to put the Lady Sundevils on top. Espanola goes 17-5 and Santa Fe is 20-2 on the season.

Springer 51, Questa 48
Three players were in double digits last night as Springer defeated Questa by 3. Sophomore Kylie Daugherty led the way with 20, followed by Kyra Laumbach's 16 and Angelica Montoya's 13. Springer advances to 12-7 and Questa falls to 7-12.

Atrisco 59, Valley 52
The number 1 team goes down, as the Jaguars decided to shake up 5A once more. Joe Brooks dropped 28, while Corbin Waquie had 21 for the Jags. Valley star Adonis Salted finished with just 10. Atrisco advances to 16-4 and Valley is 18-2.

Highland 70, Albuquerque 54
The Hornets knocked out the Bulldogs with a 16 point victory last night. Ryan Wickettes had his best game yet and dropped 25 points. Highland is now 14-6.

Logan 51, Melrose 48
Logan got the away win last night as they defeated Melrose by 3. Wyatt Strand led with 17 and Dennis Earle added 12. Logan goes 12-9 and Melrose is 11-9.

Los Lunas 74, Valencia 59
The Los Lunas Tigers remained undefeated in district play with a big district win over Valencia Thursday Night. Chris Sanchez led all scores with 32, Jacob Holland scored 23 on the night.

Farmington 45, Aztec 38
The Farmington Lady Scorpions moved to 12-10 and 2-0 in district thanks to 13 points from Amber Herbert.

La Cueva 75, Eldorado 62
The Bears earned the upset last night as they defeated the Eagles by 13. Mandy Perea finished with 21. La Cueva goes 14-6, while Eldorado is 15-5.

Navajo Prep 69, Crownpoint 33
The Lady Eagles moved to 16-5 on the year after a 36-point win over Crownpoint in a key district match up.

Shiprock 86, Bloomfield 31
The Shiprock Lady Chieftians are now 21-0 on the year after rolling past Bloomfield Thursday Night. The Chieftians were led by Shania Harry who scored 17 points.

Today we recap the Week 12 Wednesday Night Games from across the State of New Mexico.

Eldorado 55, Manzano 41
The Eagles earned a big district win without Coach Roy Sanchez who got ejected in the second quarter. The Eagles are now 13-6. Manzano is 8-11.

Sandia 67, La Cueva 53
Sandia got the away win, as they defeated their district opponent by 14. Adam Cumber led the way with 21 for the Matadors. David Ramirez had 20 for the Bears. Sandia advances to 14-5.

Hope Christian 61, St. Mikes 39
The Huskies opened up district play last night as they defeated the Horsemen by 22. Junior Dedrick Milford led the way with 15 points and Jordan Leake added 10. Marcus Pincheira- Sandoval had 10 for St. Mikes. Hope advances to 18-3 and St. Mikes is 17-4.

Roswell 87, Ruidoso 39
The Coyotes remain undefeated at home as they defeated Ruidoso by 48. With the win, Roswell improves to 19-1 on the season. Ruidoso falls to 8-13.

Sandia Prep 60, Santa Fe Indian 50
Opening up district play with a win, the Sundevils defeated the Braves by 10. Sophomore Dustin Gaddis had a huge game as he knocked down 30 points and 13 rebounds. The Sundevils go an even 10-10 on the season.

Santa Fe Prep 69, Pecos 43
The Griffins knocked out an away win as Junior Ian Anderson brought in 24 points and 10 rebounds. Francis Castillo y Mulert added 14. Santa Fe Prep advances to 16-4 on the season.

Valley 72, Highland 63
The Vikings remain on top with a 9 point victory over the Hornets. Adonis Saltes led with 23, and Joe Anaya added 17. Bryan Medina of Highland led all scorers with 24. Valley advances to 19-1 and Highland goes 13-6.

West Mesa 68, Atrisco 64
Just when you thought 5A couldn't get more confusing, the Mustangs upset Atrisco at their place by 4 points. Eric Guttierez had 19 on the night, and Drew Wassana brought in 18. With the win, West Mesa is now 11-8 and Atrisco is 15-4.

Rio Rancho 52, Volcano 45
The Rams are the upset kings, as they post their second upset in a row. Brady Patterson led with 20 points as the Rams defeated the Hawks. They go 10-11 while Volcano is 12-7 on the season.

Cleveland 73, Cibola 61
The Storm got a significant away win last night as they defeated the Cougars by 12. Ryan Jones knocked down 33 big points. Cleveland advances to 17-4, Cibola is 10-9.

Albuquerque High 53, Rio Grande 52
The Bulldogs take another district game as they defeat the Ravens by just 1 last night. Gabe Bump led the way with 18 points. Albuquerque is 7-12 and Rio Grande falls to 4-15.

St. Pius 59, Del Norte 47
The Sartans opened up district play with a 12 point victory over the Knights. Ray Reyes had 21 points on the night. The Sartans are 13-6.

Clovis 49, Lovington 44
Clovis squeezed by Lovington last night as they defeated the visitors by just 5. Willie McCray led the Wildcats with 17, and Traivon Sopila added 10. Lovington's Stephen Lennox led all scorers with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Clovis is now 12-9.

Escalante 72, Coronado 22
The Lobos get a huge away win as they defeat Coronado by 50 on the road. Four players were in double digits including leading scorer Norman Salazar who dropped 19. Others were Cody Casados and Joseph Hurd who had 12 and Reynaldo Atencio who added 10. Escalante advances to 15-3.

Eldorado 86, Manzano 25
Two players were in double digits for the Eagles as they defeat their district opponent by 61. Gabby Pacheco and Kylie Coffman, both seniors, knocked down 12 apiece. Eldorado advances to 15-4.

La Cueva 70, Sandia 35
La Cueva continues to roll as they defeated their district opponent by 35. Alexa Romano led with 24 and Alyssa Yockey added 19. The Bears go 13-6.

Cibola 82, Cleveland 45
Kim Chapman and Kristin Dearth led the way in the Cougars victory last night. They knocked down 17 each. The Cougars advance to 17-2.

Tularosa 50, Hatch Valley 40
The Lady Wildcats handed Hatch their first home loss last night as they defeated them by 10. Freshman Cassie Vickery led the way with 13 and Kyanne Kowatch added 11. Tularosa is now 16-4 and Hatch goes 14-7.

Espanola 78, Bernalillo 55
Lady Sundevil basketball earned a good win last night as they defeated the visiting Bernalillo squad by 23. Kaitlyn Romero led the way with 21. Espanola is now 16-5.
