Today, we are proud to announce the weekly NMPreps.com Player of the Week for the State of New Mexico. Each season the staff at NMPreps.com will take nomination and let all premium board members of NMPreps Nation vote the winner.

Week 9: Team of the Week - Cobre Indians

Head Baseball Coach Artie Sanchez and the Cobre Indians are rolling in-hopes of back to back titles this year at Topes Park. The Indians are 18-5 on the year, riding a 6-game winning streak, control the district with a 10-0 record, and have a loaded roster. This year Willie Fletcher, Nick Salas, Claudio Salinas, and power hitter Jordan Benfield lead the way.

Week 9: Coach of the Week - Alan Edmonson of Goddard

The Goddard Rockets are the NMPreps.com No. 1 ranked team in Class 4A with a record of 18-3. Head Coach Alan Edmonson recently collected his 200th career win as a Head Coach. The Rockets are currently 6-0 in district after two big back to back wins over rival Artesia.

Week 9: Player of the Week - Decker Reno of Artesia

No-hitters have been rare this year and the State of New Mexico had not seen a prospect throw a perfect game in 2014 until Decker Reno threw one against Roswell in week 9. The Class of 2015 prospect is this week's NMPreps.com's co-player of the week.

Week 9: Player of the Week - Chris Padilla of Volcano Vista

This is the first week of the season that we have had to selected two top performers as player of the week on NMPreps.com. Chris Padilla of Volcano Vista went 5 for 5 against Cibola, hit two home runs, and also knocked in two doubles.

Week 8: Team of the Week - Mayfield Trojans

The Mayfield Trojans enter Week 9 of the prep baseball season riding a 5 game winning streak after taking two from Gadsden to move to 5-1 in the District. The Trojans have been somewhat under the radar this year, but this solid group of 7 seniors is starting to turn heads. Ben Tingen, David Montoya, Josh Gomez, and Brandon Montoya lead the way.

Week 8: Coach of the Week - Maro Boyle of Hobbs High School

Marco Boyle just entered the 100 win club and has led Hobbs to a 15-7 season record as the Eagles are now 1st in the district after taking two from Carlsbad in week 8. Today, the Eagles have a double header against Carlsbad and will end the season on May 2nd with a double dip against Clovis.

Week 8: Player of the Week - Keenan Dodd of Hope Christian

Hope Christian's Keenan Dodd continues to have a monster senior season on the mound and at the plate. The Class of 2014 prospect who was a NMPreps.com Mr. Baseball Finalist last year as a junior recently threw a no-hitter against St. Michael's, hit a triple, and also hit a home run. Teammate Joe Standley hit two bombs himself.

Week 7: Team of the Week - Goddard Rockets

The Goddard Rockets are the NMPreps.com team of the week after taking two from Clovis in week 7. On the year, the Rockets are ranked No. 2 in Class 4A by NMPreps.com and have had a solid team effort this year. Ricky Royball is hitting .443, Josh Wagoner is hitting .405, Adam Brown has 4 wins on the mound with 31 K's, and Cody French has 18 strike outs with 1 home run at the plate.

Week 7: Coach of the Week - Carlos Carrasco of Valencia

When you think of up and coming high school baseball coaches Carlos Carrasco has to be mentioned in the conversation. Carrasco has built up the Valencia program yearly and has the Jaguars at 14-4 with the District 6-4A lead in mid April. Last week Valencia picked up two vital wins against Gallup and beat rival Los Lunas 10-1.

Week 7: Player of the Week - Cam Baird of Raton

The Raton Tigers have thrown three no-hitters on the year. Last Saturday, Cam Baird threw a no-hitter against Robertson. He had 12K's in the game with no fielding errors by his teammates. Ethan Washburn and Caleb Wood also have thrown no-hitters this year.

Week 6: Team of the Week - Eldorado Eagles

The Eldorado Eagles are the No. 1 ranked team in New Mexico by NMPreps.com after racking up wins over Alamogordo, Cleveland, and Piedra Vista last week. The Eagles are now 12-1 on the season entering their district season. They have a double header with La Cueva schedule for the 19th.

Week 6: Coach of the Week - Jim Johns of Eldorado

Longtime Coach Jim Johns has coached a ton of baseball games, coached a ton of talent and last week he won his 500th career game as a Head Coach. If you have ever had a chance to talk with the living legend, it's an absolute pleasure. Pure class act.

Week 6: Player of the Week - Andrew Pratt of La Cueva

The Class of 2015 Catcher had an amazing week 6 against Carlsbad beating the Cavemen 14-4. On the game, Pratt went 2-4 with a solo home run and later a grand slam, knocking in 5 RBI's on the day. He has 4 bombs on the year.

Week 5: Team of the Week - Rio Rancho Rams

The Rio Rancho Rams defeated the Carlsbad Cavemen in the 2014 Sal Puentes Tournament. The Tournament loaded with some of the best teams from across New Mexico took place in week 5 at Rio Rancho High School. The Rams were led by Angelo Lujan and Grant Templin who each had big RBI's in the championship game.

Week 5: Coach of the Week - Ty Thatcher of Texico

Texico Head Coach Ty Thatcher has kept Texico atop the baseball bigs in Class 2A over the years and 2014 is no exception. This year the Wolverines are 7-0 to start the year coming off a 19-0 win over Santa Rosa and a 15-0 win over Dexter.

Week 5: Player of the Week - Jarron Hill of Texico

The Week 5 Player of the Week is Senior Gentry Doolittle of Texico High School. The Class of 2014 Prospect recorded an amazing 7 strikeouts against Dexter last week in a 15-0 win over the Demons.

Week 4: Team of the Week - Volcano Vista Hawks

The Volcano Vista Hawks are the NMPreps.com Week 4 Team of the Week after winning the 2014 APS Metro Tournament beating Eldorado 8-5 in the championship game. The Hawks are now 7-3 on the year after dropping a game to Eldorado on Tuesday in a rematch of the APS Title Game. Last week for the Hawks Chris Padilla drove in three runs to help the Hawks pick up the "W".

Week 4: Coach of the Week - Cody May - Carlsbad

The Carlsbad Cavemen picked up win number 8 and 9 last week by sweeping Alamogordo in a double header to move to 9-1 on the season. Head Coach Cody May has continued to keep the Cavemen Program tops over the last few years despite losing a great amount of talent to graduation. The Cavemen are ranked No. 1 in the latest NMPreps.com Class 5A Rankings.

Week 4: Player of the Week - Ambrose Romero -Eldorado

The Eldorado Eagles came up just three runs short in the APS Metro Tournament losing 8-5 to Volcano Vista in the title game. During the Tournament it was Ambrose Romero who had an outstanding performance going 8 of 12, knocking in 8 RBI's, scoring 4 runs, hit two doubles, and hit one home run.

Week 3: Team of the Week - Farmington Scorpions

The Farmington Scorpions are the NMPreps.com Team of the Week after winning the Farmington Scorpion Invite last week. The Scorpions defeated Uintah, Utah 7-0 in the finals. Last week Farmington beat Hope, Los Lunas, and Aztec to go 4-0 during the tournament.

Week 3: Coach of the Week - Gerrard Pineda - La Cueva

Gerrrard Pineda won his 100th game last week as La Cueva's Head Baseball Coach. Pineda who took over in 2007 has continued to keep the Bear's among one of the state's most permier programs. Last week La Cueva beat Atrisco and Academy.

Week 3: Player of the Week - Lance Lee - Farmington

Lance Lee a senior at Farmington High School helped his team win the 2014 Scorpion Invite with some impressive play in the title game. Against Uintah, Utah Lee had two triples and two RBIs in the title game.

Week 2: Team of the Week - Carlsbad Cavemen

The Carlsbad Cavemen won the Artesia Baseball Tournament beating EP Austin, Clovis, and eventually beat District Rival Hobbs in the championship game 1-0. Kain Fierro of Carlsbad had 4 RBIs on three hits against Clovis and Trevor Rogers allowed just one hit against Clovis.

Week 2: Coach of the Week - Silver - Claudie Thompson

Silver beat St. Mike's 8-1 and beat Robertson 4-3 and would advance to play Cobre in the Cobre Baseball Tournament, however weather forced school officials to postpone the game for a later date. The Win by Silver over St. Mike's is obviously huge.

Week 2: Player of the Week - Keenan Dodd - Hope Christian

Last year Keenan Dodd had a monster junior season for the Huskies and he is already off to a huge start opening the season going 2-4, 3B, HR, 3 RBI against Ruidoso. He also picked up a win on the mound against Ruidoso with 12 K's through 5 innings.

Week 1: Team of the Week - Onate Knights

The New Mexico High School Baseball Season is young, but the Onate Knights out of Las Cruces, New Mexico are already 6-1 on the season. Last week the Knights own the Santa Teresa/Canutillo Tournament beating Mountain View, Gadsden, and Canutillo in the Championship Game 14-0. The Knights will travel to Albuquerque in week 2 for a double header with Rio Grande.

Week 1: Coach of the Week - David Reyes - Onate

Head Coach at Onate David Reyes has the Knights red hot entering the month of March with six wins already. The Knights were not ranked in the NMPreps.com Preseason Top 10, however they have a great opportunity to jump into he loaded Class 5A mix with their upcoming doubler header against No. 10 Ranked Rio Grande.

Week 1: Player of the Week - Roman Trujillo - Onate

We have a new Class of 2015 Prospect to watch as it was Roman Trujillo a 2nd Basemen from Onate who caught fire in week one. Trujillo was 7 for 10 at the plate, hit two doubles, and racked up 5 RBI's in the Santa Teresa/Canutillo Tournament.
