2014 Coach of the Year Winners

5A North Coach of the Year
Gerard Pineda - - La Cueva - The Bears claimed the Class 5A State Title once again under Pineda winning 26 games in 2014. They ended the year with a 14 game winnings streak.
5A South Coach of the Year
Miguel Gomez - Mayfield - The Trojans went 10-2 in district play and reached the semifinals when really no one gave them a shot. Gomez and the Trojans won 21 games and it's important to note that Gomez also entered the 100 win club this year.
4A North Coach of the Year
Mike McGaha - Piedra Vista - Since taking over at Piedra Vista this program has became the pinnacle of 4A baseball. No matter the talent level, McGaha continues to put the Panthers in the finals. They won 22 games this year.
4A South Coach of the Year
Alan Edmonson - Goddard - Coach Edmonson entered the 200 win club this year as the Rockets won an impressive 26 games. Though they came up just two runs short of winning the state title, this Rocket team is one of the better team's Goddard has had in years.
3A North Coach of the Year
Paul Huitt - Sandia Prep - The Sundevils won 24 games this year and took the 3A runner up position losing to Silver in the finals. With a ton of youth returning, this club should again be in the mix in 2015.
3A South Coach of the Year
Claudie Thompson - Silver - Ending the year on a 13 game winning streak the Colts were pound for pound one of the best teams in New Mexico. This team could absolutely rake. Credit Thompson and his staff for blowing past everyone in the tournament.
2A/1A Coach of the Year
Artie Sanchez - Cobre - The Cobre Indians won back to back titles in 2014 beating No. 13 seeded Dexter 6-0 in the finals. The Indians ended the year on a 12 game winning streak and went 12-0 in district.
