The innovative power spread offensive system that new head coach Scott Veliz has installed at Onate won’t, of course, function at a high level without players capable of running it effectively.

Onate returns only a couple of starters on both sides of the ball. However, a new head coach means everybody is literally back to square one.

“When I took the job, I realized we were going to have maybe two starters back on offense and maybe one or two back on defense, that’s it,” Veliz told NMPreps. “But that was OK with me because everything is so brand new that it’s better to start with a clean slate.”
