Piedra Vista Wins Class 4A Baseball Title

The New Mexico High School Baseball Season came to a close on Saturday night with La Cueva defeating Eldorado in the Class 5A State Championship Game 5-4. In Class 4A it was Piedra Vista defeating Goddard 7-6 in a thriller, and in 3A the Silver City Colts beat Sandia Prep 11-3. Cobre won the 2A state title on Friday defeating Dexter and in Class 1A the Gateway Christian Warriors defeated Dexter. Also stay tuned for our All-Tournament Selections.

Class 4A: Piedra Vista 7, Goddard 6
The Piedra Vista Panthers managed to do it again. The Panthers won their 4th title in the last 5-years defeating Goddard 7-6 in a thriller. Zach Ahlgrim was 3-3 at the plate with a double and three RBI's. Phil Archuleta who also won a state title in wrestling had two RBI's in the win. Matt Martin a three year starter at Piedra Vista hit .500 in the tournament with 4 doubles, 3 triples, and 10 RBI's. The Panthers end the season with a record of 22-9 and with a 12 game winning streak.
