Yes, and the match-up between Bryce Alford and Cullen Neal two of New Mexico's finest players and 2012 NMPreps.com Top 100 Player Rankings listed them 1 and 2. Neal ended up as the 2012 NMPreps.com Mr. Basketball for New Mexico while Alford has been the consistent leading candidate for the 2013 award.
Why La Cueva Will Win: Alford can score and continues to climb the charts of all-time scoring leader in New Mexico. He will need to continue his outside scoring as Eldorado has struggled guarding some other backcourt heavy teams. Another factor is the play of sophomore Ryan Wenze-Bullard who has been a little inconsistent but when on he can contribute in a big way. The key for the Bears is the "bigs" to capitalize on easy buckets. Alford is a prolific passer but seems to be cut short on assists because his bigs don't finish.
Why Eldorado Will Win: Cullen Neal, like Alford, has proven that he can score as he climbs the all-time scoring list as well. Neal can hit from anywhere inside the gym and has very deep range. La Cueva struggles with teams that have depth and a solid frontcourt - and Eldorado brings one of the better ones in the state. La Cueva showed weaknesses against Sandia's frontcourt and ability to board or stop the ball movement the Matadors brought. Eldorado has Kane Martinez in the backcourt who could become a huge factor against the Bears. Also, the duo of Zac Lee and Zach Gentry in the paint could hinder the Bears.

Three Gyms To Be At

1. Perez-Shelley Memorial Gymnasium (Santa Fe): No. 21 Hope Christian vs. St. Mike's. One of the more recent rivalries in New Mexico is also a rematch of the "game clock" game that ended with the St. Mike's horsemen winning the 2012 State title over Hope Christian 31-30. This one promises you to bring a low scoring but strategical game. Both should be favorites to return to the title game once again in 3A hoops.
2. Sandia High School Gym: No. 2 Sandia vs. No. 11 Manzano. The Matadors could very well be number one come Monday Morning for the week 14 rankings for the first time in the NMPreps.com Top-25. They will need to lock this game up if they want to accomplish that feat though. This one promises to bring all the excitement and energy a high school game has. Also, a game between former Lobo players and now head coaches Alvin Broussard (Sandia) and David Gibson (Manzano).
3. Farmington High School Gym: Farmington vs. Piedra Vista. The two teams will square off for what could essentially be the District 1-4A regular season championship. The Northwest New Mexico rivalry could also be big because this District could be on the verge of only having one team in March.

Questions: PIT Bubble

4A Bubble Game: Belen vs. Grants. This game is more of a bubble IN or bubble OUT game for the Belen Eagles. They were on the verge of moving up in seeds before a setback loss to Miyamura. Grants still could sneak in but a lot of work would have to be done. This would be one major step in the right direction.
More 4A: Gallup vs. Miyamura. The Bengals haven't been consistent this season and lack the go-to leader that they had in Nick August which has hurt them plenty of times this season. Could this finally be the year that Miyamura beats crosstown rival Gallup and possibly sneaks into the State Tournament for the first time in 4A.
3A Movement: Robertson vs. Pojoaque Valley. The Cardinals hadn't been much on the radar until upsetting the Sandia Prep Sundevils on Tuesday night. Now the Cardinals are in position to fight for the District 2-3A title and basically secured a spot in the 3A State Tournament. Now both of the teams are fighting for a playoff spot as well. The one should fill the gym.
