1. Number one to stay: La Cueva and the Bears will get tons of love in today's recap. Led by Bryce Alford who had 40 points solidified themselves as the best team in the Land of Enchantment.
2. Rio Grande the real deal?: The Rio Grande Ravens move to 2-0 beating Atrisco Heritage on Friday night. Head coach Sean Jimenez putting himself in the talk of coach of the year. The Ravens could be one of the top teams in 2013.
3. Hobbs in a different tier: The Eagles for some reason lack getting the respect that they deserve. They put 102-points on Rio Rancho a team once in the Top-10 - someone please tell me they think this team is legit now.
Prime Time Players: Bryce Alford
If you had question marks about Alford and the La Cueva Bears well ask no further - he is legit and the Bears are number one. Alford will go down as the finest players to ever wear a jersey in New Mexico.

BOYS BASKETBALL
La Cueva 75, Clovis 54: In a show down of top ten teams in New Mexico the Bears of La Cueva stormed past Clovis behind the play of NMPreps.com Mr. Basketball candidate Bryce Alford who put in another 40-point game.
Valley 46, Albuquerque High 32: Moving to 13-3 and 2-0 in District 5-5A the Valley Vikings took care of business on Friday night. Vikings guard Adonis Saltes scored 19 points in the win. The Bulldogs of AHS got 15 points from Mahlik Sims.
Hobbs 102, Rio Rancho 88: Despite a sluggish third quarter this one was all Eagles for the most part. Top 5 player Dane Pannell scored 28-points in the win. Also dominating from behind the arch minus foul trouble was Adrian Sanchez who had 7-threes for 21 points.
West Mesa 47, Highland 35: Moving to 6-10 and 1-1 in District 5-5A is the West Mesa Mustangs. Romolo Salazer (14 points) and Jason Baca (13 points) led the way in the win for the Mustangs.
Bernalillo 67, Del Norte 61: In a closer than expected game the Spartans of Bernalillo pulled out a 6-point win. Tristan Arnett had 15-points in the win for Bernalillo.
Shiprock 87, Aztec 73: In a convincing win over Aztec the Chieftains of Shiprock won 87-73. Justin Begay (23 points) and Hiram Gleason (21 points) both paced the way for the team.
Mayfield 40, Gadsden 36: In District 3-5A play it was the Trojans of Mayfield with the win over Gadsden. Isaac Rivera had nice points.
