The Dawgs won their 2nd straight Class 5A Football Title defeating Mayfield 27-26 in the 2013 State Championship Game. This year, the Bulldawgs were powered by Running Back JJ Granados who ran for an incredible 2,069-yards and 40 touchdowns. They scored 588 points and allowed 163 on the season.

Just two points away from wining the Class 5A State Title, the Trojans had a remarkable season beating two Texas Playoff Teams, beating Las Cruces during district, beating Rio Rancho and Cleveland in the playoffs. Return Quarterback Kavika Johnson.
3ClevelandRio RanchoNM10-23
Just two points away from playing in the State Title Game losing to Mayfield 34-33 in the Semifinals. This team graduates two D-1 Prospects in Desmond Branch and Sterling Napier. They scored 446 points on the year.
4ValleyAlbuquerqueNM11-14
The scoring machine all season long allowed 68 in the semifinals against Las Cruces, which was their only loss of the 2013 season. All year, Valley was on fire scoring an average of 46.5 points per game. They graduate a ton of seniors, including Quarterback Bo Coleman who accounted for 50 touchdowns and lose New Mexico Lobo Commit Aaron Molina.
5SandiaAlbuquerqueNM9-37
Ended the year on a sour note losing to Las Cruces 56-8, but their season was not one-game. This team had a great run beating Volcano Vista, Los Lunas, Cleveand, Manzano, Eldorado, La Cueva, and Atrisco. They graduate D-1 Prospect Cammron Bean.
6FarmingtonFarmingtonNM12-116
An amazing run no doubt under Head Football Coach Gary Bradley going 12-1 this year. What was amazing is they only had 26 players on their roster. They took care of business and relied on a defense which allowed just 6.6 points per game. In the end they would shutout Goddard 7-0 to win their first State Title Since 1952.

The Rockets ended the year where they wanted to be in the title game, but clearly it was not the result they were looking for losing to Farmington 7-0. A continued New Mexico High School Football Staple, the Rockets were led by Cody French who accounted for more than 20 touchdowns this year. They were 6-1 against 4A teams.

2013 had some great surprises and few were less expected then Hobbs going 8-4 and reaching the quarterfinals. Season highlights include beating Clovis in district and beating Cibola in the first round on the road. They lose 2,500-yard Quarterback David Romero, Receiver Steven Olivas, and Athlete Kolin Zembas.

First year Head Coach Rod Williams led the Cougars to a remarkable 7-4 season, remember this team was just 1-9 a year ago. Williams brought back Cougar pride. They beat Sandia back in week 2, beat La Cueva, Manzano, and even managed to beat Rio Rancho along with Volcano Vista. It's been a while since that has happened. They lose a good amount, but also return a good amount for the 2014 season.
10Rio RanchoRio RanchoNM7-59
The Rams lost 5 games during the 2013 season, but also beat teams like Goddard, Clovis, and Carlsbad on the year. They played a gauntlet of a season and were also hit by 9 ACL injuries. Lost to Mayfield in the quarterfinals 45-24. Return Junior Quarterback Easton Burere who has already thrown for over 5,000-career yards.

Started out the season 1-4, then went onto win their last 5 out of 7 games as they usually do. They graduate NMPreps.com Mr. Football Finalist Kamal Cass who ran for over 2,000-yards this year. They beat Goddard, Artesia, Sandia, Carlsbad, Volcano Vista before losing to Valley 55-28 in the quarterfinals.

Another team that hit the injury bug this year, but still reeled off an impressive 6 wins against a very good schedule. They did beat Artesia, La Cueva, and Hobbs this year. They lost in the quarterfinals against Rio Rancho 41-38. They finally graduate three year starter Rodney Holcomb at quarterback, return some very good juniors.
13Atrisco Heritage AcademyAlbuquerqueNM7-412
This program is growing up. Remember, Atrisco Heritage is new to the scene and less than 6 years old, but they have been gaining ground football wise. This year they went 7-4 on the year losing 45-11 to Sandia in the quarterfinals. They return some of the state's best juniors including Ricci Alvidrez at Running Back and James Romero at Defensive End.
14ManzanoAlbuquerqueNM5-513
The Monarchs started out the year 3-0, but then hit a mid-season losing streak where they lost their last 5 out of 7 games. Their last win of the season came against La Cueva, they also beat Volcano Vista and Clovis on the year.
15Volcano VistaAlbuquerqueNM5-614
The Hawks finished the year 5-6 after losing on the road against the Clovis Wildcats. This year, the Hawks took another step forward overall beating teams like Mayfield and Eldorado. Return some very talented juniors and sophomores.
16BelenBelenNM9-322
Every year, Head Coach John Lerma keeps Belen in the playoff hunt. This year overall they outscored the comp 390-180 before bowing out losing to Farmington 14-7 in the semifinals. They return a loaded group of junior prospects for the 2014 season.
17Los LunasLos LunasNM9-318
They have finally graduated their studs they've had for the last three years. They never won a state title and lost to Goddard twice. However, this group of seniors had a storied career going a combined 21-4 over the last two seasons.
18ValenciaLos LunasNM7-521
The Jaguars took a big step forward from the 2012 to the 2013 season under second year head coach Kevin Jolley. They Jaguars were able to find a way to beat Piedra Vista, Moriarty, and Belen with a group made up of mostly juniors and sophomores. Expect them to again be tough to beat in 2014.

The Deming Wildcats finished the year 9-3 winning one playoff game which was against Roswell in the 1st round winning 29-19. They lose a great amount of talent to graduation including running backs Ish Garrett and Jerome Sandoval.
20La CuevaAlbuquerqueNM3-723
Learning season under first year head coach Brandon Back and after starting the year 2-5, the bears managed to pick up a late season monster win against Eldorado winning 31-28. They never really folded on the year despite their lack of experience roster wise. They return a ton of talent, including top linebacker Mitchell Cantwell.
21EldoradoAlbuquerqueNM4-624
The Eldorado Eagles finished the year 4-6, but managed to outscore their season opposition 265-229. They beat Atrisco, Rio rancho, and Manzano on the year, but failed to reach the playoffs because of a late season loss against La Cueva. They return national level prospect Zach Gentry at Quarterback for the 2014 season.

A bit of a surprise this year or maybe not if you follow Moriarty Football. Coach Bob Allcorn took Moriarty into the playoffs after a 3OT win over Artesia. They were led by a good combination of running backs and had key wins over Piedra Vista, Del Norte, before losing to Goddard 28-0 in the quarterfinal round of the playoffs.
23CentennialLas CrucesNM9-328
They returned 22 starters from the 2012 season and completed their first district championship run in school history with a monster later season win over Deming 28-14. They also won their first playoff game in school history against Santa Fe winning 36-2. They finally graduated a few big names, but still return a tremendous amount of talent.
24RobertsonLas VegasNM9-547
Completed an incredible late season to win the Class 3A State Championship as the No. 9 seed. During the year they were beaten 50-0 by St. Mike's, only to beat the Horsemen in the playoffs, then go on the road again to beat Taos another team who had beaten them early on, before beating favored Silver in the title game 34-7. Robertson was led by Running Backs Dominic Lucero and James Gonzales III.
25ArtesiaArtesiaNM4-720
Despite starting 2-1 the Bulldogs would lose 4 in a row during the middle of the season. They still managed to beat Roswell to take 2nd in district, but lost to Goddard by 14. They did receive a playoff bid after beating Del Norte 53-22, but lost in 3OT against Moriarty 48-41. They should be loaded in 2014.
