The NMAA Board of Directors passed C4 AKA Proposal B which creates new classification alignments for the 2014/2015 school year.
"Here is the basic info on the proposal: C4 will take the 72 schools with the highest enrollment numbers (3 year average) and will split them into three equal classifications (24 schools each broken down between 4A, 5A, 6A). The remaining schools will then be split equally into 3 classifications (again based on enrollment numbers - 3A, 2A, 1A). A 1.3 multiplier will be applied to the enrollment numbers of private/boarding schools," Commented Dusty Young an NMAA Associate Director via e-mail.

The NMAA has re-named Class B which is schools with an enrollment of 0-72 as Class 1A which now creates 6A at the top of the classification alignments. For Example: Las Cruces went from being 5A to now 6A; Aztec went from being 4A to now 5A, St. Michael's went from being 3A to now 4A, etc.
