Today, we name the ten finalists for the NMPreps.com New Mexico OL of the Year.
The New Mexico High School football season ended last week and we will continue to roll out our postseason awards.

Each candidate will earn points towards the award 1) Joshua Grine of NMPreps vote, 2) Scott Hood of NMPreps vote 3) Media vote and 4) NMPreps Premium member vote winner.

10 Candidates for New Mexico Offensive Lineman of the YearÂ
Beau Kelley, 2018 (Artesia High School)Â
2018, 5-foot-8, OL: Kelley plays for one of the top programs in the state of New Mexico. The Artesia Bulldogs are 10-2 on the season and playing for the 5A State Championship. The Bulldogs have one of the of the best offensive teams in the state - passed for 3410-yards with 47 touchdowns.
Cannin Prieto, 2018 (Hobbs High School)Â
2018, 6-foot-2, Tackle: The Hobbs Eagles had one of their best years on the football field going 9-3 while reaching the 6A quarterfinals. Prieto was part of the team that passed for 5,347-yards, providing plenty of security to a pass-first system.
Cassius Trujillo, 2018 (West Las Vegas)
2018, 6-foot-2, Tackle: Trujillo played for the 7-5 Dons that reached the 4A quarterfinals for the first time. The Dons passed for over 3,000 yards on the season and rushed for 1,726-yards on the season.
Devon Gonzales, 2018 (West Mesa High School)Â
2018, 6-foot-3, Center: The West Mesa Mustangs reached the playoffs for the first time in over 5-years. The Mustangs went 7-4 and 4-1 during district play. Gonzales was one of the top reasons for the success the Mustangs experienced this season. The team rushed for over 2,000-yards and close to 1,500-passing yards.
Evan Tafoya-Vallo, 2018 (Rio Rancho High School)
The top recruited offensive lineman in New Mexico this season looks to add to a postseason full of accolades. A top talent with the play to back it up the entire season.
Greg Romero, 2018 (Manzano High School)Â
2018, 5-foot-9, Tackle: Romero might be one of the smaller OL's on the list but could have the best leadership and heart on the list. Romero has been the face for the Monarchs who are 12-0 and playing for the 6A title.
Hunter St. John, 2018 (Clovis High School)Â
2018, 6-foot-3, Tackle: Entering the season St. John was one of the top prospects to watch. He continued to play well all season for the Wildcats who went 6-6 on the season and reached the 6A quarterfinals. The team rushed for 2,367-yards and 31 touchdowns.
Michael Taylor, 2018 (Cleveland High School)Â
2018, 6-foot-2, Guard: A top OL for two years now, Taylor has again placed himself among the best in the state of New Mexico. The Storm had a run game that rushed for 2,381-yards and 35-touchdowns on the season.
Travis Hacker, 2018 (Eunice High School)Â
2018, 6-foot-4, OL: Hacker is one of the best in 3A football overall and the reason the Cardinals are 12-0 on the season. Hacker also played leader for a team that passed and rushed for over 2,000-yards each (2,194 passing) and 57 touchdowns (32 rushing).
Victor Bolanos, 2018 (Roswell High School)Â
2018, 6-foot-2, Center: The Roswell Coyotes went 8-4 and played in the 5A semifinals. Bolanos was a leader for a rush first team that had 2,931-yards and 33-touchdowns on the season.
