Centennial looks to overcome lack of size on defense
Centennial head coach Aaron Ocampo is the first to admit most of the Hawks defensive players won’t turn many heads walking off the bus.
But what CHS lacks in size, he hopes they make up with plenty of speed, intensity, grit and determination.
“We’re not going to be very big on defense,” Ocampo told NMPreps.com recently. “I don’t know if we’re going to have a guy over 200 pounds. Except for the freshmen class we started off with (in 2012), we haven’t had a lot of big kids come our way. So, that’s just the way we play. But our kids are tough and we’re not shying away from anybody big.”
