Albuquerque, New Mexico - Wednesday Night at Community Stadium Cibola's Gannon Chavez scored 4 touchdowns, but it was not enough to hold off the La Cueva Bears in a 31-26 thriller.

The 2016 New Mexico High School Football Kickoff featured four lead changes, the Cougars actually led 26-22 in the 4th quarter when Chavez who threw for well over 350-yards on the night hooked up with Nathaniel Manzanares for a 32-yard touchdown to make it 26-22.

La Cueva took a 29-26 lead later in the 4th quarter when Bear's Quarterback Chris Campbell hit Kyle Fanelli for a touchdown strike to make it 29-26. The Bears would then record a safety on Cibola to make it 31-26.
