Final: Manzano Shows No Mercy On Atrisco, 40-6

Thursday night football in the Albuquerque Metro area as the 11th ranked Manzano Monarchs start the season 1-0 with a 40-6 win over Atrisco Heritage.

Albuquerque, NM - The first Thursday night game of the season was owned by District 2-6A's Manzano Monarchs (1-0) who opened the game with a 45-yard touchdown by junior quarterback Michael Roybal, Jr to receiver Andrew Erickson.

The Monarchs never looked back as they rushed their way to three second quarter points to take a 28-0 lead at the half. Manzano quarterback Michael Roybal added a pair of touchdowns to his stat line with a pair of rushing touchdowns.

Alejandro Vallejos added a last touchdown before the half to extend the lead. University of New Mexico recruit Jordan Byrd improved the lead to 34-0 in the third quarter on a rushing touchdown.

Sophomore running back Xavier Ivey-Saud punched in his first touchdown mid--way through the fourth quarter to put the Monarchs up 40-0. Richard Tucker helped the Atrisco Heritage Academy Jaguars avoid the shutout with a touchdown in the final minute for a 40-6 final.
