The New Mexico High School Basketball Season is just around the corner and today we highlight 10 standout women prospects who will be playing basketball at the college level after the 2014/2015 season.
Danni Williams (Clovis) - Texas A&M (SEC) ESPN - 5 Star, # 36 Overall, # 7 Position. "Confident combo-guard handles, executes in half-court, brings consistent mid-range game to the arc; triple-threat creator puts constant pressure on the defense with a scorer's mentality that delivers; competes, passes in transition, court awareness." Shelby Jones (Clovis) - ACU (Southland) Good size with fantastic strength for a high school post. Runs the floor very well. Soft hands with good court awareness. Knows when to pass out of the double team and when to force the issue.
Alexa Romano (La Cueva) - Stanford (PAC 12) - Long and athletic combo-guard. Gets to the rim. Has range to the arc. Elevates well in the mid-range. Smart player that will do what her team needs.
Natalie Zamora (St. Pius) - Fairleigh Dickinson (MAC) - fundamental PG. Understand the game and sees open lanes well. Good handles and good range. Makes up for lack of quickness with fundamental skill set.
Sabrina Cabbage (Santa Fe) - Wichita St. (Missouri Valley) - Great size and athleticism. Handles the ball well for her size. Range to about 12'. Can create mismatches with smaller or slower players.
Dee Briggins (Clovis) - ENMU (LSC) - Being buried behind Shelby Jones has delayed Dee's development. She had a fantastic summer and is really starting to come into her own. She has nice footwork, soft touch, and has a knack for the ball.
Nichele Hyman - (Clovis) - Nichele is a long and athletic guard. Her best attribute may be her ability to defend in the open court. Her defense creates a lot of offensive opportunities for her. Skinny - Texas Pan Am, ENMU, UOA - Monticello.
Alyssa Yoky - (La Cueva) - Alyssa is a good leaper with soft hands and a nice touch. She has the ability to shoot the 3 but is not real comfortable on the perimeter. Skinny - Fort Lewis
Kristen Dirth - (Cibola) - Kristen has great size at 6'2" for a high school post. She has very good footwork and a nice touch around the basket. Her size will create trouble for most opponents. Skinny - in communication with several schools.
Caley Barnard - (Melrose) - Caley is a very good athlete. She has a good handle and decent range. Her strong suit is her strength and ability to defend. It will be a challenge for her to go from 1A ball to the college level. However, she has the physical tools to make the transition. Skinny - ENMU
