2017 New Mexico Mr. Basketball

NMPreps.com is happy to announce the 2017 Tate Branch Mr. Basketball award winner for the state of New Mexico.

Brenden Boatwright was the number one ranked prospect as a junior in the NMPreps.com 2016 Top 100 Player Rankings. He also won the gatorade player of the year. He now has been announced as the winner of the 2017 New Mexico Mr. Basketball award. The award is given to the top player for the previous season.

The career for Boatwright is one that can't be summed up in a single line as the big man was one of the most underrated talents that have come out of New Mexico. The 6-foot-8 post signed with Fort Lewis College in Colorado. For his career Boatwright had 1,597-points, 1,035 rebounds and 250 blocks.

The stat line for his senior season Boatwright reads like this - 21.8 points per game, 10.9 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game. The Cavemen went 17-12 and reached the 2017 State Tournament during his senior season. Boatwright also led the Cavemen to the 2016 State Championship game.

Boatwright joins a very special group of top players from New Mexico.
