The Sandia Matadors scored three runs in the top half of the seventh inning for a dramatic come from behind victory against Volcano Vista. The Matadors were led by Danny Collier and a huge RBI from David Gunther. Marvin Ortiz picked up the win for Sandia. It will be Sandia's first trip to the title game in nearly 30 years.

The Carlsbad Cavemen knocked off the La Cueva Bears Friday night in a fantastic pitching dual between La Cueva's Gray Pratt and Carlsbad's Jered Meek. Caleb Vannatter drove in Broc Landreth for the game winning run in the bottom of the seventh to put the Cavemen up. On the night Meek who is committed to New Mexico was stellar on the mound racking up 10Ks.

#1 Piedra Vista 3, #5 Academy 2
The Piedra Vista Panthers are headed to the title game after a thrilling win against Academy. The Chargers actually went up late in the game 2-1 after Alex Bregman belted a two-run home run. The Panthers however, rallied back and then it was Kholeton Sanchez who hit the game winning RBI. The Panthers will play the winner of the Miyamura/Valencia game that is being played today at 10AM at Valley.

Game was rained out in the bottom of the second with Miyamura leaded 2-1. Game will be played Saturday at 10AM location is Valley High School.

#4 Cobre 5, #1 St. Michael's 4
The Cobre Indians got revenge on the Horsemen for an earlier loss this year, but it took 10 innings to do so on Friday. The two teams were tied 4-4 through most the game, but it was Trey Sanchez who ended the game on a bases loaded single.
#3 Portales 1, #7 Sandia Prep 0
The Portales Rams riding the big arm of David Rodriguez who is now 11-0 on the year topped Sandia Prep in a defensive battle. Ryan Schmidt scored the games only run off a Sandia Prep error in the fourth inning. Rodriguez had 10K's in the game.
2A Title Game Recap
#4 East Mountain 9, #14 Santa Rosa 0
The East Mountain Timberwolves are the 2012 State Champs after topping the #14 seed Santa Rosa Lions Friday afternoon. Ray Demarest earned the win and helped Coach David Naylor put a stamp on a fantastic season. They beat Pecos 2-1 in the first round, beat Texico 4-0 in the quarterfinals, beat top ranked Eunice 8-5 in the semifinals, before blowing past the Lions. Alfonso Archuleta II had two hits and scored three times, RJ Butler helped close out the game. The Timberwolves finish out the season 24-3.

The Capitan Tigers are the 2012 1A State Champs for a second year in a row after beating Floyd on Thursday. Robert Miller hit a triple in the game Raul Villegas pitched a complete game for the Tigers.
