ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Manzano's top running back Xavier Ivey-Saud, a 1,000 yard rusher in 2016, couldn't play in Wednesday night's season lidlifter against Atrisco Heritage because of an injury.

Jordan Byrd and Alejandro Vallejos just shrugged their shoulders and said, 'We got this."

Manzano's dynamic quarterback and backup running back combined for five first half touchdowns and close to 300 total yards rushing as the Monarchs scored four straight touchdowns en route to a convincing 48-26 victory over Atrisco Heritage in the opening game of the 2017 New Mexico High School football season.
