Five quarterfinal scores that caught our attention
Week 14: New Mexico High School Rankings
Gridiron Recap: The first number one fell. The rest stay course.
The New Mexico High School football playoffs reach the semifinal stage on Thanksgiving weekend with some attractive matchups in Class 3A and 4A. Here is a review of reach game:
4A: Hatch Valley (8) at Ruidoso (4): If you’re for a Cinderella (and who isn’t?), Hatch Valley is your team. The Bears knocked off No. 1 seed St. Michael’s last Saturday as all three phases – offense, defense, special teams – contributed to the scoring. Hatch Valley scored two touchdowns in the final six minutes to rally for the upset. The Bears rely on a strong running game to move the football with Saul Trujillo (1,591 yards) and Chandler Carson (903) doing most of the damage. The Bears have gotten hot at the right time, registering seven straight victories after a 1-4 start.
