SANTA FE, N.M. – In chronological order, the St. Michael’s Horsemen football team has three major goals for 2017: 1) win the Santa Fe city championship; 2) beat Robertson and win the district title; and 3) win the Class 4A state championship.

We’ll know by the end of Week 3 if the first goal has been met. But if recent history offers a clue, St. Michael’s will again celebrate their status as kings of high school football in New Mexico’s capital city.

The Horsemen haven’t lost to crosstown rivals Santa Fe or Capital in nine years. The Demons were the last of the two foes to beat St. Michael's in 2008.

It’s been all St. Michael’s ever since.
