For Hobbs, season could depend on how well defense plays

PORTALES, N.M. – Led by bazooka-armed quarterback Gavin Hardison and electrifying wide receiver Alec Finney (60 receptions in 2016), Hobbs could potentially have one of the most explosive offenses in the state of New Mexico in 2017.

However, if the Eagles want to prove last year’s 2-8 record wasn’t a true reflection of their talent level, the defense must improve by leaps and bounds.

In their eight losses a year ago, the fewest points Hobbs surrendered was 39. Three times they allowed 54 or more points.
