NMPreps.com 4A Preseason Preview

#1. | Los Lunas Tigers
2011-2012 Record: (13-14, 3-9)
2012 Finish: Missed the Playoffs
Head Coach: Marty Zeller
Key Returners: Tiege Zeller (Post 2014); Nicole Hathoot (Guard 2013);
Katie Inman (Post 2014)
Skinny: A complete overhaul has taken place at Los Lunas High School and the Tigers are the preseason favorites to win it all in 4A. The major factor giving the Tigers the nod is having NMPreps.com #1 player in New Mexico, Teige Zeller transferring in. Next, the reason she has transferred in, because her father Marty Zeller (Former Grants Boy's head coach) was hired this summer.
#2. | Miyamura Patriots
2011-2012 Record: (16-12, 5-6)
2012 Finish: Elite Eight
Head Coach: Marty Alderete
Key Returners: Nicole Money (Post 2013); Presligh Smiley (Guard 2014);
Danielle Chee (Guard 2013)
Skinny: The school enters its fifth season as basketball program and have already exceeded expectations for a "new" school. The Patriots have been to the state tournament each season and last year they reached the Elite Eight before losing to eventual state champ Kirtland Central. The Patriots return a dominate trio that could have this team arguing to be number one.

Skinny: Espanola Valley will have one of its most talented teams when the 2012 season officially tips off. The team took a blow losing Teige Zeller (NMPreps.com #1 Player) who transferred to Los Lunas High School.

Best of the Rest

No. 6 Santa Fe Demons: Head coach Elmer Chavez has this program on the uphill and this will be his most talented squad. They will be led by sophomore Sabrina Lozada-Cabbage (NMpreps.com #12 Player) who showed tons of promise last season.
No. 7 Artesia Bulldogs: Artesia proved that they belonged last season and they welcome back senior Amy Horner who could be a favorite in 4A.
No. 8 Gallup Bengals: Under head coach Kamau Turner the Bengals are looking like they will stay consistent powers. Look for Shanel Begay as the go-to player this season.
No. 9 Kirtland Central Broncos: The defending state champions will take a step back when the season kicks-off. With the loss to graduation and Taylor Henderson transferring the could be a step back.
No. 10 Los Alamos Hilltoppers: The Hilltoppers made a move in the right direction last season and led by a NMPreps.co Top 100 player in Haley Each this could become the silent killer in 2013.
Others to Consider: Moriarty High School, Goddard High School, Albuquerque Academy.
