Rio Rancho running back Josh Foley was a preseason favorite for the top award given to the best player in New Mexico High School football. He will end the season as the best player in the state of New Mexico.
NMPreps.com is happy to announce that Josh Foley is the 2016 Tate Branch New Mexico Mr. Football award winner. Foley, becomes the second Ram to win the award.
Foley, ended his stellar career as a State Champion as the Rio Rancho Rams captured the 6A title with a 13-0 season. Foley, the workhorse of a back who recently received his first division one scholarship from Rhode Island had a remarkable season with some impressive numbers.
Rams head coach David Howes had this to say about Josh Foley winning the award, "I am thrilled for Josh and our program. These awards are due to many moving parts but Josh is something special. He deserves every ounce of this success. We are proud of him!"
First, he finished the season with 1,872-rushing yards with a (10.1 yards per carry) that included 30-rushing touchdowns. Foley, added 352-receiving yards with 5-touchdowns. On the defensive end of the ball Foley had a 99-yard pick-6. The final touchdown number for Foley would be 38.
Runner-Up: In a close vote, St. Pius X quarterback Drew Ortiz, is the runner-up for the award.
