Locklin's departure from Mayfield sets stage for heated Trojans QB battle
Suddenly, the Mayfield Trojans have an unforeseen quarterback quandary.
Not long ago, rising senior dual threat quarterback Torry Locklin informed Mayfield coach Michael Bradley that he was moving to Rockdale, Tex., a community located about halfway between College Station and Austin in the heart of the Lone Star State.
As a result, Mayfield has lost the services of an exciting player some thought could mount a serious challenge for the Mr. Football Award in New Mexico.
At the same time, Locklin’s exit should generate a heated competition at quarterback between a trio of candidates – sophomore Gage Guardiola, junior Nasiem Alabayad and junior Jacob Moreno - when preseason practice begins July 31.
