ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Believe it or not, two weeks from Wednesday night, the Manzano Monarchs will take the field against Atrisco Heritage at Nusenda Community Stadium shortly before 7 p.m. for the first high school football game of the 2017 season.

Indeed, football season is nearly upon us.

“I don’t think it has sunk in with the kids that we’re not far away from playing a game,” Manzano coach Chad Adcox told NMPreps on Monday. “We’re one week from our first scrimmage and two weeks from the first game. It’s definitely coming quick. I know it and the coaches know it because we’re preparing for it, but I’m not sure the kids do yet.”
