SILVER CITY, NEW MEXICO - On Tuesday, we informed you that every single high school coach at Silver High School had signed a letter addressed to the Silver Consolidated School District requesting that Silver Consolidated Schools reinstate the Principle, Athletic Director, Head Baseball, Softball, and Boys Basketball Coach to their active duties.

The High School Principal and the Athletic Director were placed on leave by Silver Consolidated Schools Superintendent Lon Streib for not following orders to fire the Baseball, Softball, and Boys Basketball Coach. The letter composed from the coaches said if these requests were not met, they would all resign. Copy of the letter the coaches composed here

On Tuesday Night, May 24th Silver Consolidated Schools Superintendent Lon Streib accepted the resignation of all the coaches effective immediately.

On Wednesday May 25th Silver High School students started a petition in support of the principal, athletic director, and the three coaches who were originally ordered to be fired by Streib. 200 students had signed the letter according to the Silver City Daily Press.

A special board meeting is scheduled for Thursday Night at 6PM.
